Tonight I was amazed when I witnessed my baby budgie fly across the room, into it's cage. Earlier today I had a treat (seed block) in front of my fish tank, with an area for the bird to sit and peck away till it's hearts content. Was doing so for an hour while I was here at the computer. It was chirping so I assume it was quite happy where it was while eating every now and again. At about the hour it flew across the room, and right next to me on some furniture. I think it must've gotten bored. I had to go out shortly after so I put it in it's cage. Later on tonight I thought i'd put him back out as he seemed to like it. After about ten minutes, it flew from it's spot across the room, and landed on the side of it's cage. It worked it's way around to the front opening and jumped up on it's normal pearch. I thought this was amazing! It either wanted to play with it's toys, or just likes its home. Anyone else have similar stories or words of advice? Thoughts? Regards, Rob

G'day all. The name's Rob and I live in the northern section of South Australia. My partner and I recently picked up a small male budgie which we have ironically named Tweeter. (something to do with audio systems.. ask more if you want about the name.) Thought i'd introduce Tweeter and myself to the general public, i've spent a good twelve hours here just reading up on all the information stored in these threads. Without further delay: Kind regards, Rob (vippin)
  3. First post, be gentle. I have recently aquired my first bird of any kind, a common blue budgie at roughly seven weeks of age. I am curious to whether playing budgie sound effects, ie them chirping to the budgie is encouraged or not. I'm getting it used to human voices, with radio and such, and I would like to know if other budgie sounds would improve its moral/wellbeing or if it will hinder the taming process. Kind regards, Rob
