  1. I think you mistaken what was said... Elly was talking about he birds with a spot of the back of the head being a dom pied itself, not split for dom pied... and some are saying that those birds with the spots on the back of the head could be split for recessive pied rather than an actual head spot dom pied. I hope that makes sense.
  2. I personally think that this is perfect!! I have seen similar cage and I think that they are a good size.. I think with the width of it, may be it just seems small to people as they dont know the dimentions.. the only thing with this cage though... I wouldn't buy it because of the 'roof' part.. it doesn't allow space to hang things as there's nothing there unless of course you did what Feathers did with hers... put wires on top rather than the roof that came with it. Good luck with finding the right cage.
  3. my initial thought is that it is a clearwings, but the cinnamon throat spot is throwing me off... And if that's the yellow true to it's original colour (not on photo but real life), then it is possible that is is a clearbody as well.
  4. They are all sooo gorgeous!!

SHE's gorgeous!! My hens do the bobbing as well.
  6. Marlony... You can't get green bird of any sort if you have blue and grey parents!!! and you cannot be split for DEC.
  7. I was at the show earlier too. but I didn't get any birds though. Just went to have a look at all the displays. Your birds are beautiful. I agree with Nerwen. She's a fallow .
  8. I don't know which site you're refering to, or what they might means by that, but just remember though, if budgies are sick, they will sleep more than usual, which actually does mean that they do tuck their little head under their wings and back feathers more than usual. If they are doing that a lot more, I would start to worry about my birds. Just a thought.
  9. What adorable babies!! the first baby looks to be a spangle cobalt. and the second baby, yellowfact spangle cobalt...
  10. well in that case, both 'a' and 'x' will show 100% of the time.

I'm with Phoebe and Leanne, but my excuse is I'm at work, I can't spend a whole lot of time thinking... I'm ashame of myself lets just say.. hehehehehe...
  12. Awwww, she had too much fun raising all those babies, and now that they are all slowly fledging, she had to think about how she was gonna get her baby fixes right?!?!?! (Laughing out loud).. she ain't a tart in my mind!!!! :(Laughing out loud):
  13. thanks Una for that, I'll post it later when I log in there.
  14. HUH?? are you saying that in your original posts, (a + x) actually means two different birds?? you mean if Bird 1 having the 'a' gene and bird 2 having the 'x' gene? because my understanding was your original posts makes a whole lot of sense if it was 'A BIRD'... of what shows and what doesn't.. and if it's not what you mean, then you're missing a whole lot of other combination possible. I hope you know what I mean. I just read your original post again... and this is what I read... and to me, that means that your original post 'equations' were in fact refering to 1 bird only, and if that's so, that would mean that if birds are (a+x) then it would express (a+x) in the dominant trait.
  15. why am I not surprise he is such a popular little guy. :budgiedance: hehe.. Una, I was wondering if it is possible for me to share your video of your little guy in another forum I frequent. they'll love it!!

Thank you everyone for your kind words... I do miss him so much still... he always had a very happy chatty chirp. He sang all the time when he was awake. I miss that. :budgiedance: but I am feeling a bit better by the day though. Kaz, thanks. I appreciated our chat the night it happened. I still get teary thinking about him. :ausb: like right now... yes I have found a special place for him. and I'll treasure it always. Thanks again for the idea!
  17. My brain is literally hurting right now (I've got a pretty bad headache), so trying to figure this out is just not working.. Can some please explain the above 'equation' to me please?? I thought that if a bird have two different dominant genes, both will express 100% of the time. No matter which way I look at it, I just don't see how there's a 25% chance of only one dominant gene expressing. Or even 25% chance of it not showing at all?!?!? dominant gene? eg... a green and grey gene - grey green bird. Dom pied gene and spangle gene - dom pied spangle bird, green and spangle - green spanglebird, grey and spangle - grey spangle bird. Am I missing something while I'm having this really bad headache?? And also what about if you have double factor genes which is possible as well like (aa + xx). eg 2 dark factor gene and 2 dom pied gene... Olive dom pied?? Daz, just curious, are you saying that a double factor spangle can't mask dom pied gene? I thought that they use different gametes? wouldn't that allow it? I'm soooo confuse right now!!! :budgiedance:

Wow, great aviaries you have there!!! :budgiedance: I like the new one too. I hope your cockatiels and budgies co habitate alright in there. and awww, what cute possums!!!! I want a cuddle.. hehe.. Binnie looked so very small in the picture.. hehe... Can you actually legally keep possum in Australia? Just wondering.
  19. My, what gorgeous birds!! I love Jubilee's colour!! :budgiedance:
  20. oh that Apple is soooo cute!! he's put a smile back on my face after loosing my little Tango. Thanks for posting the video. I have always loved his little antics and talking ways.. :budgiedance:
  21. OMG!! I love bub two!! not that I don't love bub one.. but boy a YF grey spangle!! I want one!! I am planning on putting a pair together that will produce that mutation, but not yet.. :budgiedance: not right now anyway.. gosh, soooo cute!! so that means that the dad is masking grey colour? the baby could be mauve though, but I think it looks more grey.. I have to wait to see the cheek patches when they come in a bit more..

I lost him two nights ago. I miss him so much... :budgiedance:   Tango's Tribute Page In Loving Memory of Tango the Budgie
  23. wow, what lucky girls you have there!! Looks amazing!!
  24. Oh, I am not saying the Devo is a boy.. I was just adding to the equation that's all..
  25. The first two pics do make Devo look like hen, but the third picture makes Devo looks like what Spirit looked like when he was younger. I'll have to see if if I can find a good picture of Spirit's cere. And oh, Daisy looks like she has red eyes? if she does, it means she's Lutino. If she doesn't, she is a double factor spangle as there's an iris rings.. but I'm pretty sure she's a lutino. Oh Elly, I am so sorry.. I'm not even realising what I've been doing.. sorry hun, I didn't mean to look like I'm trying to 'undermind' you at all... I was just 'adding' other possibilities to genetics equations.. hehe.. EDIT... I found some pics of Spirit, and I forgot about Quake.. he's my dom pied, but his cere isn't blue either, but definitely a boy as well.... a picture of Spirit (top) and Quake (on the perch)... I thought that they were both girls, but to my delight (as I have an aviary full of hens already), they turned out to be cock birds. Spirit's cere up close Quake's cere up close
