  1. Very funny! Just told my mother who thought it hillarious too.
  2. yep, the thing was what colour are his wing markings? I always thought they looked brown, my mother thought they look gray when looking at them in the shade. We know he's not a cinnamon because his colour is not diluted. I bought a nice gray spangle today to pair to him once her quarantine is over so he'll be a happy chappy! or should I pair the normal gray hen to him? I forgot what the breeder suggested!
  3. Got some new birds today so managed to get a couple of pics of the sky spangles' wings taken in shade and in sunlight. My mother thinks the markings look gray (while we had him in the shade). Sorry I took so long getting these pics, thought it pointless when my harddrive packed up to take them then.
  4. wowsers! a foal is a pretty big thing to miss - did he (vet) have his eyes open?
  5. I'm not getting it back until next week now as the hard drive hasn't come in yet! I am going stir crazy.
  6. Hi Jen, long time no see! The bird in question isn't from the melanistic family line, I seem to have lost all members.
  7. Congratulations Georgina! Great photo. Sitting is such hard work. :thanks:
  8. Well my baby girl is back! She still looks a sight what with her head still looking like a porcupine's back, but at least she is over the worst of it and loves me again.
  9. Good work Snowy. Every but helps. I have been able to support financially with a personal donation and a donation on behalf of my parrot site. It doesn't make the pain any less but at least I know I have done my little bit for my fellow Australians. Just hope my mum's family is okay.
  10. Well the bad news is the hard drive is up the creek and the good news is they can save my files, photo's, favourites etc! I am very happy about that. I believe they can reinstall it when the new hard drive is installed. Thank heavens for my parents always saying to take out an extended warranty!
  11. I've got a years' worth of photo's and files on my current one. I really hope they can salvage it. Friends have been telling me I should have gotten a disc when I bought the computer. The guy at the time said I didn't get one since Windows is preloaded. Others have said that's rubbish as sometimes need to reload the program. I'll ask the service people tomorrow.
  12. oh! they might be able to save the info? Gosh I hope so! I've got heaps of disks and the hard drive if they want that! I'll take both lots with me on Saturday and ask them. I'd just started my research again into a new mutation so won't lose too much, it was only about 6 hours work - not like last time when I lost 2 years' research! At least I am prepared if it happens again. The hard drive is 500GB so I won't have to worry about having too much info! oh birdluv I hear you! have you got yourself an external hard drive to backup your info? LOL I am definately converted to them now.
  13. My just over 12 month old computer failed last night, giving me a Disk Boot Failure message. GRRR! Figures! Lucky for me I purchased an extended warranty so it's going back to HN on Saturday. I am hoping it won't be gone too long. I can forgive the computer giving up the ghost (except I've still got 2yrs Lease to pay) but it's the information saved on the computer that I really don't want to/can't afford to lose. Again. My parents just gave me an external harddrive for my birthday and I was going to use it on Saturday to backup my computer. LOL this is amazing! All this time without a backup and the day after I'm given one my computer packs up - but before I can backup the silly computer! At least I can still access the net at work. Although if the planned train strikes happen next week I'll only have 3 days here! hehe what a week. Murphy was an optimist I am sure!
  14. haha I think Murphy's Law might have a hand in there somewhere. My very first show ever and one's I want to enter go into moult. Just hope the last girl doesn't go into moult. But really, Murphy was an optimist wasn't he?
  15. Anyone know how crested came about? I've seen some really odd looking crests and you'd almost swear they are feather dusters that have become "stable" for want of a better term.
  16. Thanks Kaz. Shame they couldn't go through their moult after the show!
  17. Are you going to enter any birds Darryl? Looks like I can only enter 1 now, all the others are going through a moult and have pins everywhere. Am I right in thinking a bird showing pins can't be shown? Or am I way off the mark?
  18. I like the look of this one, is it male or female?
  19. I know no one's done it yet so it's a topic of possibilities, but the White Faced Green. Would it be considered dominant or recessive? Green is dominant, yes? Is White Face dominant or recessive? I read an article written by a professor in the early 90's who stated that it is likely to be bred in an amateur's aviary. That is my fervent wish, to breed the WFG - and have the naming rights! Although I doubt you could beat WFG as a name.
  20. Thanks for the info, will put steel wool on tomorrows shopping list. I kind of panicked a bit when I saw the rust. At least the hen settled into the cage quickly
  21. My thoughts are with all who have tragically lost their lives and for their loved ones who are left behind to mourn. It is sad that so many were recalled early to the bosum of The Mother of All. They have been called home and are no longer afraid. I grieve with thee.
  22. I am looking to go to my first show in 3 weeks' time. I got out one of my brand new show cages and the wire front is showing some light signs of rust. Any idea's why it's happened and how to get rid of it? Have had them stored in the garage out of sunlight since I bought them last year.
  23. Can a hen be split to graywing? Have no idea with the chick other than to say it is beautiful.
  24. Hoping to this season. Any suggestions from page 1 of this thread? Boris is my 4yo (in June) green normal hen.
  25. In which one? I've already forked out $25 today in Syndicates.
