  1. Doctor believes I may be genetically predisposed to it. My maternal grandmother had Raynauds - the more serious one. Although I don't have Raynauds I also exihibit some of the symptoms. Scleraderma was also a worry at one stage but quicky dispelled by the Rheumatologist when I saw him.
  2. Yeah Nat, it was actually caused by Psoriasis which I developed about 13 years ago. I just wish I wouldn't get heart palpatations after I take methotrexate (once a week drug). Horrible feeling. Been on the drugs just over 10 days, not feeling any benefits yet but that was told to me anyway. I also discovered not to google the drugs you get prescribed - you'll scare the living daylights out of yourself with the possible side effects, like what I'm on it said basically I could drop dead!!! Mummy Bernadette said don't google! LOL :cake:
  3. I used to be annoyed by the Double Barred Finches getting in and eating my parrots' food, I ended up getting some bird netting from Bunnings. It didn't stop them for a couple weeks when they finally learned that if they tried to squeeze through the netting they got caught. I think it trapped about 20 or so and I found out that finches bite! Luckily they can't bite hard but they tried! :fingerscrossed:
  4. I've got psoriatic arthritis. The Rheumatologist examined me from head to toe and he was very thorough, and it was a painful examination too. I've been prescribed 3 lots of medication, one lot I take 4 tablets once a week (methotrexate). That's not so bad! Doctor said I can continue having a drink on the weekend but only 1 a day instead of my usual 2. I asked him if these meds will mask my ailment or fix it and he said fix it. Exciting stuff! I am so happy that I may finally be able to going back to a "normal" life and be able to ditch my walking stick and be able to sit in a normal depth chair and bend my fingers - and write! I know it's not going to happen straight away, according to the literature he gave me it'll take 6-12 weeks for the symptoms to start disappearing. Also because of the nature of the medication I have to have a blood test every 3 weeks as the medication can further damage my liver. Apparently the psoriasis already would have caused some damage to my liver so the blood test is to make sure I'm okay. Hopefully I'll be in a heck of alot less pain in a couple months! Can hardly wait to get back into the normal life I had before when I'd visit people's aviaries and stop for a cuppa. Miss going to barbies too!
  5. That is a good site, see some Henry George birds coming up for sale. I am keen to see what comes up.
  6. Love the DF Spangles!
  7. Nice girl the cinnamon!
  8. Very cute bubs!
  9. 1 major problem with princess parrots - you can't stop at 1! My first was a handicapped girl whom I adopted and named Princess. She was so beautiful and happy. Then I thought she needed company, so I bought Prince and they got on like a house on fire and Prince would dance, sing and hop around the cage. Then a friend at work asked if I'd adopt her male princess parrot so of course I said yes, so Monty came home with me. Now Monty looked lonely so I figured he needed some company, so I bought Matilda. Problem was Monty didn't like Matilda so I swapped her with Princess. Prince was over the moon with Matilda who quickly asserted her dominance over Prince. Then in late November we had shocking storms and floods and Princess somehow ended up drowning in her water bowl. So now Monty is by himself again and I've got to find another princess parrot female . . . So, you see it's just not possible to only have 1 princess parrot!
  10. I love all princess parrots but am very partial to the original green. Others sure are nice though. When male princess parrots are mature they have a spatule at the end of their longest wing feather - it's like a tiny feather on the end of a feather. DNA sexing is on average $30 give or take a couple dollars.
  11. Excellent results! Contratuations. :raincloud:
  12. Was Sir the bird that passed away the day I was there? Very striking picture, looks like he was captured perfectly.
  13. haha LOL don't think I've ever seen such a fast lot of responses! I am very happy with them. The Lutino's will be going with the Yellow Lacewings I got off Dr Nat and I just couldn't resist the Spangles. :raincloud:
  14. Picked these up from a fellow in the Ipswich area - he has the best quality birds I've had the pleasure of viewing. He is very helpful and was really patient with my many questions, and the best thing is he breeds other parrots as well! :raincloud: Pardon the quality of the photo's, I am in need of a new camera. This guy is a real show off, he was in the middle of a big feather fluff when I got this picture:

  16. That first photo is very impressive! I gather they have all fledged?
  17. oh Gordon he's such a cutie!
  18. If I felt an animal being looked after was in danger then I wouldn't hesitate to report the keeping of said animal. However, if the animal was in good hands and being well looked after then I would not report it - even though I "reported" myself. I will forever regret calling and handing over the kitten my parents found. I have always wanted a rabbit and that would be about the only reason I would leave Queensland. I think about her all the time and second guess myself constantly.
  19. I was expecting the first word in your post to be "out" "Had My First Exam Today!, I think I passed....." Congratulations, all that hard work paying off.
  20. Maybe you should call 1800 ANIMAL and give her address to them, they will go to her house and ask for the bird. You would be doing the lorikeet a favour.
  21. if the person rings 1800 ANIMAL then they will direct a wildlife carer to come and pick the bird up. The bird needs to be raised as if it's going to be released - which is what a wildlife carer will do.
  22. hahaha so this stupid little terd thinks Moggie2 should get a life??? hahaha perhaps they should get a BRAIN!!! Unbelievable!
  23. I sense you have thought long and hard before putting fingers to keyboard. I applaud your passion! Yes I am a worker ant in a highrise in Brisbane. I would much rather be doing something more productive than taking money from people for their industry licensing. Alas, this ant must finish now and go back and shuffle some more papers Never lose that passion Nat! It'll keep you young and strong!
  24. There is a very, very tall coconut tree and there are 4 animals, a Lion, a Chimpanzee, a Giraffe and a Squirrel who pass by. They decide to compete to see who is the fastest to get a banana off the tree. Who do you guess will win? Your answer will reflect your personality. So think carefully . . . Try and answer within 30 seconds. Have you got your answer? Now scroll down to see the analysis. * * * * * * * keep going * * * * * * * * almost there * * * * * * * * okay that's far enough. If your answer is: Lion = you're dull. Chimpanzee = you're dense. Giraffe = you're a complete moron. Squirrel = you're hopeless. A COCONUT TREE DOESN'T HAVE BANANAS ! ! ! Obviously you're stressed and overworked. You should take some time off and relax, have a banana!
