Woolley Mammoth?
Had to share this picture. When I was uploading them I couldn't help wondering if budgies have some mammoth genes!

No Thanks Boris!
Boris will just have to learn to cross her tail! She is staying with us until at least June - all smaller cages are in use at the moment. I'll let her kiss up to Sam, but they cannot meet because the way Sam is at the moment I may end up with some Peach Budgies! :(Laughing out loud):

No Thanks Boris!
I think it may be that time for Boris again. Got her out this afternoon and was giving her kisses. Next thing I knew she'd curved her back and lifted her tail!! Tried to tell her that not only was I the wrong species but also the wrong sex but she didn't listen. I gave her a quick back rub and that seemed to satisfy her.

Boris And Her Friend Sam
(Laughing out loud) I hand raised Sam along with Turbo (budgie) so he does know them. Only problem is Sam is smack bang in the middle of purberty and everything that means. Boris being the smart girl has learned that Sam is stronger so she does give up when Sam gets too rough.

Boris And Her Friend Sam
Things started out well, Boris would fly like mad around the lounge and kitchen and Sam would struggle to keep up. Boris (budgie) is nearly 32 months old and Sam (Peachface) is 6 months old. Here they are on my shoulder, Sam is starting to nibble Boris' feet: Little bit of preening: Getting a little out of hand, Sam decides to play rough: Poor Boris: After intervention from my mother things turn peaceful again:

Df Spangle & Graywing
I hope so. Would like to get some rings to put on them but don't have any.

Df Spangle & Graywing
No idea mate, I just let them at it. As long as the chicks are strong and healthy that's all I care about.

Df Spangle & Graywing
Now that I know what the hen is I can proudly announce they have 6 eggs! reminder of what the parents look like:

Jnr Boss & His Lacewing Missus!
Here is the latest picture I took today: Would someone please care to explain to this here genetics nincompoop, how a (light) lacewing white hen and a gray cock bird parent a Lutino?!?!?!?! Jnr Boss and his missus have a lutino and 2 others yet to be seen. The other 2 bubs are albino (or lacewing) and a LUTINO!!! I thought 2 blue series birds could only have a blue series offspring? Please! What am I missing? (apart from my marbles).

Other Pairs
okay, changing nesting material today so caught her up. She is not albino after all. She must be DF Spangle:

Can You Believe This?
Wonderful job there! Should put in a written complaint to the head office about the store. At the same chain at **** I had a young lass tell me that budgies a 6 months old were still babies, I just laughed at her. The new ****** in ***** I had to catch my own bird as the girl was afraid of birds!
-
Other Pairs
I'm pretty sure she's Albino but she's on eggs atm and don't want to disturb her.
-
Other Pairs
These are the other pairs that are checking out their accommodations. This pair has eggs: She's been in the nest box for the past 2 days so I'm hoping for eggs soon: This hen has been in the box as I found all the wood shavings on the floor of the cage: Based just on the pictures above, what do you reckon the possible chicks will be?

Jnr Boss & His Lacewing Missus!
Only 3 of these chicks are theirs. The other 3 belong to the pair below this picture as the hen decided she was more interested in the budgies in the next cage over than her own chicks. This is the other couple (albino babies are theirs):

Boris - Ever The Mummy!
That's a Red Rump (female) baby, should fledge in the next week to 10 days. Boris would definately give Blinks a run for his money. She was sitting on my shoulder tonight giving me a run down of her day. Decided to preen my cheek (gawd I hate that! it tickles) then when I didn't react to her she BIT ME!!

Boris - Ever The Mummy!
Boris was very interested in who I had in my hand so of course I had to show she who must be obeyed! "hello little girl, where's your mummy & daddy?" "your beak looks a little dirty, how about I clean it for you": Last picture blurry (so I've just added a link) but it shows Boris very please with herself: http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b234/kar...b218-1-2008.jpg

Look Who Flew Into My Yard
I first saw her around noon today. At first I thought one of my birds had escaped but quickly realised they were all secure. She let me get within about 2 feet of her before moving away, I could see that she had an injured foot and couldn't put any weight on it. I saw her a couple more times but she was more wary. Just after 5pm I went up the back again and she was there again. By this time I was worried as there are alot of hawks, eagles, magpies and butcher birds out here and they are all very efficient hunters and this little girl stood out like a sore thumb. While trying to coax her out of the sheoak I had some assistance from a local honeyeater (I guess he was being playful) he started chasing her around the neighbourhood. After about a 45 second full on flight frenzy she landed at the suspended again & I went up and netted her. I guess she was winded after all the fast flying! I found out she bites hard too! I'll keep an eye out in the neighbourhood for flyers for a lost budgie & mum will keep her ear to the ground for whispers too. Here she is - bit wet from her foot treatment, I got more on her than on her foot!

Mummy Boris!
No, father won't allow it. Couldn't anyway as Sam is a Peachface and he already had a go at Turbo's feet when we brought her in for a visit - and they were raised together.
-
Mummy Boris!
Both have fledged now but still rely on dad. I had to remove Boris as she started to have a go at the bubs. These are from the 19th Eldest - stripes on his head are green!: Youngest: Boris is on the front verandah now. She gets to share house time with Sam now. Sam 1 night inside, Boris the next.
-
Mummy Boris!
Mummy Boris is doing a wonderful job! pardon the messy nest box - I'm on holiday from work now and felt like being lazy this weekend.
-
Mummy Boris!
Mum has Sam inside now so Boris & Sam will come in alternate nights - presuming of course that Boris wants to come back inside.
-
Mummy Boris!
I wanted to make sure the bubs were strong and healthy before announcing it. This is Boris and her Husbird: Their babies: Boris is a very protective and aggressive bird on the nest. I daren't put my hand in the box while she is there as she will bring blood! Here she is giving me the 'beware - attack budgie' stare:

Jnr Boss & Supermum - Round 2
This one has fledged: and so has this one: these ones have yet to fledge (can you see mum in there?): I have another Lacewing! How is it that I have not been able to breed a copy of Jnr Boss? He has fathered (I dunno) about 35 chicks and not a single one has been Recessive Pied. He has fathered a number of Lacewings hens which I'm blowed if I know where it comes from as I know his family back 3 generations!

Yellow Lacewings
Yes I will, but I don't have a spare breeding cage at the moment - I had to compromise, when I got my double suspended aviary I had to promise to get rid of 2 of my breeding cages so theirs was one of them.
