for the past year l have wanted to breed my budgies ( this is why l first joined this forum ) but l found out that l would have to wait until they where of a proper age , so l had to wait for awhile ( l'm planning to start to breed them in June or July of this year ) , but l'm only planning to breed with only one pair and after they have a successful clutch , l might then breed with another pair but l'm still not sure . why l would like to breed , most other posters have already mentioned this but l have a lot of time to spare to take great care of them , and l'm researching alot so l will be very well prepared to handle situations and to care for them properly , l would like to do this as a hobby . l would like to bring the babies up as handraised to sale as pets , but l would also like to give them away to friends and family first if they are interested ( l have a few family members , that have said to me that they would be interested to have one of my babies if l ever decided to breed ) when l look for a home with the public l will give them a care sheet and l also will be very picky on who l choose to take one of my babies , l won't let just any one take them .
  4. here are two very short video clips of my two gay budgies :(Laughing out loud): Hobbes is on the left ( green) & Papaya is on the right and he is courting with Hobbes they are both males . right after l took these clips , Papaya was doing the head bobbing , Hobbes finally had enough of Papaya and his courting so Hobbes then flew away but Papaya followed him back into their cage sorry for the quality of the video , it is a little shakey and the lighting is dark , but it shows how two of my budgies normally act towards one another on a daily base . http://s13.photobucket.com/albums/a277/lka...nt=DSCF0438.flv http://s13.photobucket.com/albums/a277/lka...nt=DSCF0439.flv Hobbes is not impressed with Papaya.
  5. l agree that she is a female . as for colour , in the pics with the flash she looks cobalt almost with skyblue mix but the pics without a flash she looks like cobalt so l would say she is a normal cobalt hen . she is very pretty by the way .
  6. very good tips on how to care for baby budgies , l have saved and stored this away in my computer files for baby budgie care :hap: this will come in handy when l start to breed in a little while , but before l do , l want to research as much as l can .

they are beautiful , l like the spangle markings too .
  12. recessives pieds never develop iris in their eyes they are always black also the males don't have blue ceres they have pink ones . l have two budgies Butter who is a double factor dominant pied , Papaya who is a yellow double factor spangle , they both have eyes that are the same as yours , one of their eye has no iris ring but their other eye has an iris ring . l have heard before that this does happen , l forgot why it does thou .

l'm planning on starting to breed my budgies ( but not until June or July ) and l have a few questions . l would like to breed Claire , she is a sky blue dilute opaline , with Papaya , he is a yellow double factor spangle , what babies could l except to see from them ? l was wondering when should l start to condition them so they will be ready to breed ? what should l give them to help them be ready and healthy to breed ? what should l add to their diet ? l realize that since this would be their first clutch that it is a big possibility that the eggs won't be fertilized so how long would it be okay to leave the hen on those eggs if they are not fertilized ? when would it be alright for them to try again ? once they have breed how long should l wait to see if the eggs are fertilized ? what type of stuff should l have as a first aid kit just incase something goes wrong ? l understand that in case of an emergency that needs immediate vet care , l have my avian vet's number and after hour emergency number in hand , just incase l have to rush to the vet . my next question isn't really about breeding but l was wandering since l got Popcorn and Butter from the same pet store at the same time , l was thinking that they might be from the same clutch , is it possible to have a recessive pied and a double factor dominant pied from the same clutch ? Butter is a yellowface type II double factor dominant pied , he has one eye that is developing an iris , l also noticed on his back there is a dark blue patch . Popcorn is a yellowface type II sky blue recessive pied , she has no iris in her eye .
  23. l would also say female she is a beauty .
