I have some experience on this, the first thing to do whether you get a male or female, quarantining the new budgie from your current budgie is a must. Slowly introduce them. What l did l put their cage side by side. Then every day l let them interact outside of their cage and l kept a close eye on them. After awhile they started to hang out in each other cages. Then l took one of the cages so they could share one cage all the time. While the new budgie is quarantined. take them time to bond with it and you will then have 2 bonded budgies

I'm not an experience breeder but from reading other breeder's post. Colony breeding is not advised. Breeding them in a breeding cage with only one pair per cage is recommended.

Have you gone to the vet? How is your budgie doing?

I have been following this thread but not posting in it alot. I have bit my tongue several times but l'm going to say something after all. I can see both views on this and can tell Pop's doe's not mean any harm towards the budgie's. I can only imagine how it feels to see the birds enjoying their freedom but for me, I could not do it. Since l could not help myself and worry about them all the time. I would be worried about all of the neighboring cats and wild predator birds, snakes, and all other natural predator's out there seeing them as easy targets. I myself would strongly not recommend other's doing this.

I went to the bird store and look what l came out with After looking at this face, l could not leave with out. I'm not 100% sure but I think it might be a girl. Her green is a very vibrant green. Unfortunately the camera doesn't even come close to her beautiful colouring.
