Budgie Poo...
I've had to look at this website a few times because of changes in poo and I thought it was pretty good http://www.parrotchronicles.com/septoct2002/droppings.htm

That Kind Of Person
Nope he doesn't get to come out anymore because he flies into things. No one will take him out because of that, nor will they clip his wings so they can at least take him out to play.

I don't think that he has time to go back to her. From what I've been told he's quite elderly, they got him from a petshop where he was an owner turn in, and she's had him for 4 years. The owner is going off to college in August so she won't be able to take him back anyway. I'm hoping for his sake the sister doesn't decide she just wants to keep him anyway. He should be coming on Monday if all goes well.

Oh my gosh! 10in x 10in, poor bird, and the smoking - that's not good for anything! I'm just irritated because I didn't know about Buddy coming, much less that I was taking care of him. The poor guy doesn't get out of his cage and appears to be blind and isn't able to fly anymore. It's weird though because they have tons of animals (they have a hobby farm) and he's the only one that isn't taken care of. He used to be very loved until the sister got a boyfriend. This all came up right after I'd been to my parent's for Easter, when I got there the dog's nails were so overgrown that when I cut them there was more than 1/3 inch taken off each nail. I don't think that she's had them clipped since I was last there in November. Apparently it's too time consuming to take her to the groomer for 30 minutes. Last year they let her poor nails get so long that it caused her toe to twist, breaking it, and the nail snapped completely off so she needed surgery. It just baffles me as to why anyone would do stuff like this.

That Kind Of Person
My roommate's sister has a budgie named Buddy that she's no longer feeding, watering, or cleaning up after. From what I've been told she's feeding him once every week in a large amount, he's only got icky dollar store seed. So now he's being brought here (so I can take care of him, news to me). This is the same toommate who tried to force Buster to drink vodka because it was "funny" (he now lives at my boyfriend's, I spend like 99% of my time there so it works out better). However, this kind of thing makes me so mad, why would you get a pet if it's too "inconvenient" for you to bother taking proper care of? It seems to be a common occurance now, do many of you know people like this?

Does Anyone Wear Glasses?
(Laughing out loud) both my birds are obsessed with my roommate's glasses. Buster is always trying to hang from them.

Pellets
I was told when I was buying pellets for they meyers that zupreem causes problems with organ function with long time use. When I was at the vet she didn't say anything about them when she asked about Buster's diet. So I'm looking for an alternative for Buster, does anyone have a suggestion? I'm switching Amira to the harrison's. They also get cooked veggies, seed mix, and some apple sometimes.

breeders v. pet shops?
I know how you feel Smudgie, I wish I'd known about this site before I got my bird at the petstore. The people there are great about giving good info, making sure I bought the right things, and helping me pick out a young healthy budgie but everytime I've been there since I've noticed sickly looking birds (and some bloody ones). Another problem is that they aren't equipped to have medium/large sized birds - they aren't healthy looking, their water is filthy, cages WAY too small, and one time I saw an employee snap a towel at one of the bird's cages and the poor thing was just huddling in a corner They've had some of these birds for about 9 months now (they're charging like 2 1/2x what you would pay to get one from a breeder). After seeing that I decided to get my birds from a breeder in the future.

I Think My Budgie Is Sick...
If it isn't possible for you to take your bird to the avian vet maybe the vet nearby could call them and ask for advice. When I went to the vet with my bird last week they had me give him gatorade (pedialyte works as well). Make sure to keep him nice and warm, good luck

Does Anyone Know What This Is?
(Laughing out loud) I guess that's what they get for not taking really good care of their birds.

Does Anyone Know What This Is?
I think I'm gonna have to let it go because it's too late to return the cage. I think I actually got a better cage for the price. So :hap:: to them, it turns out the bigger one that I got is more like a 350 dollar cage rather than the 250 I paid because they mismarked it. When I first saw it I was pretty upset because I had estimated that the measurements were the same as the cage on the link, but in reality it's much bigger. Lucky Amira. It's just really weird that the wrong brands sticker was attatched to the cage.

Does Anyone Know What This Is?
I contacted Elite-pets and they told me it was onf theirs. What should I do about the pet store? Ask for some money back?
