I'm not sure about Fez's age - the people at the petstore weren't sure but didn't really seem to know much of anything. He/she has no black spots on the beak. The other birds that were with him were all fairly young. I know he was there for at least 2 weeks before I got him because we went to get bird food and we wanted to buy him and was still there when we went to get Buster a friend.

That's double the recommended bar spacing for budgies. I don't think it's so much an issue of them escaping as it is of them hurting themselves because they may get their heads caught in the bars.

They're fairly transparent, I'm a little on the fence about Fez's gender because of the white nares but the outline of the cere has a faint blue color coming in. I'm thinking boy but it'll probably show more clearly one way or the other in the next few weeks/months.
