Buster used to sleep on top of his swing too. It sounds normal to me, I think they like to change up their sleeping position.

I haven't seen any color to his flights. What is a dominant banded pied?

I got a new budgie on Wednesday, this is Cosmo. He's not quite tame yet but he's getting good with step ups, which is awesome because he was totally untame when I got him. (Laughing out loud) Buster's a pretty tolorant little guy. He usually bathes himself but the night before he ran through my food in an attempt to steal some and was kinda smelly. Plus he's been dying his head pink with his mineral block.

Thanks guys they're really funny to watch. When I first got Amira she just HATED him but she's realized that he'll preen her neck and she seems to kind of enjoy his company

I tried growing seed in a little dish with some dirt once and it worked, Buster was pretty interested in eating the sprouts.

One theory that I heard was that they're imitating a larger animal which if you think about it would discourage other predators from going their way.

Birds see colors that we don't - they're able to see into the ultraviolet spectrum. He didn't really seem to care but those 3 were the only ones where he was still for the 10 seconds or so it takes for the shutter to close. I had to take 21! Last time he was around the black light he went crazy playing with his toys.

I tried for a few more (I can only do it for a few minutes, for some reason the black light makes me nauseated).

Did you know budgies glow under a black light? It took me FOREVER to get this picture
