A Rescue Of Five Budgies
Normally it is a one off treatment - a drop on the back of the budgies neck (just like putting Frontline on your cat or dog!), but if the vet has said to do it that way over several weeks then perhaps what you've been given is a different preparation in which case follow the vet's instructions.

A Rescue Of Five Budgies
I believe there is no harm in treating with ivermectin even if there is nothing to treat... people do it as a precaution all the time, don't they?

Ziva & Dinozzo
They're very handsome/pretty! I love their names... we're big NCIS fans in our house!

Granma's Brag Book
Wow... she's a doll! I am due to be a first-time aunty in three week's time... not quite grandma status, but thoroughly exciting nonetheless! Needless to say my Mum and Dad are chomping at the bit for her to arrive! They can't wait to be grandparents! Looking forward to family outings with my sister and their new bub!

Zebra's Baby - Benjamin
Isn't he growing up! I can imagine how much you're missing your budgies... maybe once Benny's grown up a bit you might be able to start off with just one and see how things go... fingers crossed!

Scandinavian Budgie Owner
I love Avril... such a pretty little girl! Welcome to the forum! Your English is certainly not going to be a problem... some of us have poorer written English than yours, especially if we're up late at night or being lazy! You should definitely enter some of your pics for Budgie of the Month!

A Bit Of A Laugh
He has another one - Bill the Cat, which features a budgie too! As kids, my mum had the tape of this album and my sister and I would giggle in hysterics when we listened to this song! Bill the Cat We had a cat His name was Bill He caught our budgie on the window sill One holy day, one sunday morn Left only feathers on our back lawn Oh no Bill, you can't do that You silly *****, you stupid cat So we took him down, our family pet And we left his balls with the family vet meeoooww meeeoooww Well the very next day he packed his bags Left all his penthouse and playboy mags How could we do it to the family pet Go and leave his balls with the family vet Well we get no postcards, no telephone calls He's out in the bush somewhere, with no balls And he's obsessed with sweet revenge So he eats our parrots and our fairy wrens (Chorus) Yes he's mortified and we all regret that we Left his balls with the family vet X2 Now he's highly sought by the feral choir For his new found talent to sing much higher Has no more time for female friends Only parrots and fairy wrens No sense of humour, ex-family pet He's still angry, he's still upset It still hurts, he can't forget That we left his balls with the family vet Chorus X2

Some Just Dont Get It
Hypothetical thinking of the question asker: "Yeah Kaz... keep your "rude, inconsiderate" comments to yourself... when I post things on a public forum I expect people to read into my questions and know that I only want to hear responses which suit me, even down to the time of day that they respond (sometimes I am in a different mood in the morning and therefore require a different kinds of response to what I do in the afternoon). Everybody knows that what you read on the internet can be taken as gospel so stop spouting your knowledgeable drivel on here and quit making me realise that I am, in fact, a bit of a tosser." Oh my! When will people realise that by posting things on the internet you are asking for trouble if you're misguided!? Keep up your great work Kaz!!

Scaly Face
Definitely go for the ivermectin... you will probably have to take them to the vet for it, and even possibly tell the vet specifically that you want them treated with ivermectin (if he/she isn't particularly in touch with birdie business). But it is definitely worth the trouble. My budgies have both had scaley face which i got onto really early (even before any visible crustiness) and used oil and off the shelf products. In these mild cases the products did stop it getting worse, but didn't ever clear it up entirely. Go for the ivermectin and if you manage to get the scaley face eradicated in all your birds, it MAY not rear its ugly head ever again (fingers crossed). Having got my guys cleared up, I haven't had any trouble with it since.

In Memorium - Bushfire Victims
What a lovely tribute Smudgie... hopefully someone can continue what is obviously a treasured legacy for the people of your district. It seems it would be only fitting to acknowlwdge Sue and Bob's wonderful work by continuing it in their stead...

Game: Go Fish
hehe... yeah. Do you skip breakfast?
-
Game: Go Fish
yes... Have you ever climbed to the top of a telgraph pole and then jumped off? (I did this on the weekend at my church retreat... very exhilarating... and yes, I was all harnessed up!)

Bird Pictures
hehe... do they climb into their food bowls themselves, or do you put them in there to make them easier to photograph? It seems you have a lot of budgies with a particular fondness for sitting in bowls! I particularly love the little bald guy busting some dance moves in his dish!

Is "unripe" Seed Bad?
I find that Smokey loves the seedy end of things while they're green... as soon as the seeds start to ripen up he really only chews on the stalk part... i think he must prefer the juiciness of the green seeds and stems.

Smokey And His Bath...
Haha! Thanks Liv... it seems pretty much anything will float his boat at the moment! I would hate to be his swing this week... it seems to be copping the brunt of his "enthusiasm"! I even went so far as to put his mirror bell toy (usually reserved for play time outside his cage) into the corner of his cage, but to no avail... he's just not interested! It seems he has a fetish for the inanimate! Ah well, boys will be boys... I will put his bedtime forward an hour for a week or two, and see how things go!

Smokey And His Bath...
Smokey seems to have recently developed a much greater appreciation of the delights of splashing around in his water bowl. Surprisingly though, it seems to not only bring him pleasure in the cooling down and feeling clean sense... it also makes him really ***** (oops... sorry that got sensored! I mean h***y, as in "turned on")! He'll splash around in his dish for a moment or two, then jump out, hump his swing, then go back to his bowl for more "invigoration" and then flirt rather grotesquely with his hanging ring thing and so on with all the things in his cage! Is this rather erotic relationship with his bath water something anyone else has observed with their budgies, or is it just my little man? He is probably about a year old (I got him May last year as a baby)... could this help explain things?

Photo Update!
Great pics! This one, in particular, would make a good caption competition picture! Blue: "I thought I told you to keep that top button done up... you can't leave the house looking like that!" Gree: "Aw man! Stop it! I'll dress how I like!!"

Hello
Welcome! This is a great forum... I've learnt a lot here and have never felt like I can't ask "silly" questions or anything like that! Your new family members are very cute! They look like an adorable pair! Very handsome/pretty! I can't help you out with answering your questions (there are plenty of more knowledgeable people who will though!) but just wanted to say "Welcome"!. P.S front on pics without the flash might make them easier to ID... but regardless of all that, they're lovely looking little things!

Our New Place Allows Budgies!
That's fantastic news! It is always nice to have these things properly confirmed! Yay :fear

Charlie's In Love
Good on you for taking on everyone's advice so open-mindedly (some people don't necesarily find this an easy thing to do). :fear As you have already begun to notice, our feathered friends do tend to find company in all manner of things in their cages! I find that keeping a supply of extra toys and rotating them every couple of weeks keeps Smokey occupied and engaged - a new arrangment of the furniture and a removing a couple of toys and replacing them with different ones that he hasn't played with for a few weeks provides hours of entertainment and exploration! Smokey's regulars are his swing and ball on a string, but he has maybe half a dozen other toys which come and go (two or three at a time) when I do a major clean out of his cage each fortnight.

Lucas Is Very Very Sick
Oh Shawna! That is fantastic to see! Getting those clear MRIs are the best feeling! I think I may have mentioned earlier in this thread that my husband (perhaps still fiance then??) had a brain tumour as a child and had surgery and radiotherapy which took care of it then. Recently our journey began over when he was diagnosed with an atypical meningioma (a fast-growing tumour in the outer lining of the brain). But after surgery and the care of a fantastic neurosurgeon, he too had an MRI which showed no signs of tumour! We had our six week post-op follow-up visit yesterday, and whist there is always a chance of recurrence, for now, it was confirmed that he is cancer-free! I can really appreciate the overwhelming sense of relief you feel at receiving such news! Praise God!
