  1. Lamp is for warmth not light. are you sure this one Is dom pied?? Looks skyblue spangle to me.
  2. Took a couple of pictures of Omelette's fledged babies in the kindie cage before the camera batteries ran out. The cinnamon grey baby the grey green spangle the grey spangle NASTY the greywing this pied baby is my syndicate baby...bred by the budgie syndicate and mine now as we take turns in receiving a chick from the syndicate. Wilson and Hoadley bred.
  3. The one you call "laurel"is a grey green. The one you called double factor dominant pied is a single factor dominant pied. there are alot of birds breeding at about 8 months, so i might ask my dad about that. See, im only twelve and its not like i can go and build a birdroom. Actually there is a small shed behind the avairy which my dad mentioned we might be able to build some sort of birdroom one day....You simply have to have a flight where the budgies who are under 12 months can be with NO NESTBOXES. They are NOT meant to be breeding that young. You force them to breed by having them in a place where nestboxes are.
  4. She wont get eggbound. If you put her in a cage with a lamp for recuperation she may lay another egg off the perch but she will stop. Leaving her in there fighting for a nestbox is not a good idea. Iots stressful and she can get sick from stress over fighting for a place to lay an egg. Hens have killed each other over nestboxes.
  5. You are right. He is 8 months old. didnt think he was older than 8 or nine im getting better at age defining he is going to be apsalute beautie kaz when third molt goes by mmmmmmmmmmmmm id love one his chicks his colour is lovley and strong also who bred him may i ask ? or did you say already? He is bred by Fran and John Mac laughlan.....out of a skyblue cock and a violet hen. He is NOT split for anything like cinnamon or opaline.
  6. You are right. He is 8 months old.
  7. Do you have another place to put your babies in the future ? If they are left in an aviary with nestboxes you will find they will try and breed from as young as 12 weeks and you will have major problems. Any budgie under 12 months should not be in an aviary where nestboxes are or they will breed too young.
  8. Check the yellow hen closely...there has been fighting over this nestbox and she is bleeding.
  9. Junk food for budgies.
  10. I think you have been misled about what line breeding is ....... you seem to be under the impression that this creates deformities. It doesnt. You may also be confused about terminology and be thinking of inbreeding. To quote a former member from one of his topics............ Line breeding is breeding with a particular line of birds. Now lets say the imports were again open for budgies. And someone bought in 10 pairs of Mannes birds. Now if he kept them together and bred them for three or four years working different combinations. Which you could do easily without breeding relatives together and he didn't mix them with his new 6 birds of another breeders. That is line breeding ! Inbreeding is the deliberate combining of relatives brother to sister, uncle to brother etc etc. For generation after generation That is Inbreeding ! The splayed legs I seriously doubt is inherited. I agree with Dean. I think the person you saw has misled you.
  11. I seperate the feathers and get it directly on the skin.

FRO http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=fro 1. fro Puffy growth of hair, intentional or otherwise.
  14. You will need to organise crossflow ventilation of some sort...a window at the back ( meshed ) that can be opened to draw air through
  15. Polyester batts are R 30. Thickness of batts are 185 mm ( I split mine to cover more area as they were too thick for the gap.....I use two thirds the thickness and used the extra pieces I peeled off for other areas. ) Batt size is 430mm by 1.60 mm and 8 pieces per pack. Covers 4 square metres ( more if you split the sheets like I did. ). Declared material thermal resistance 3.0 square metres K/W at 23 degrees C. Polystyrene sheeting I siliconed into place on inside of ceiling.
  16. I used polyester batting in the walls with coated plywood on top. The polyester batting is safer to user than anything fibreglass. It was $33 a bag. The coated plywood was $5 a sheet ( 1200 by 2400 ) at a clearance hardware store. I used polystyrene sheet glued to my ceiling. The polystyrene is around 2 inches thick and I bought it out of a trades newspaper....2nd hand but new. My birdroom is 15 degrees centigrade difference from outside.
  17. The two budgies heads are two babies in a nestbox. One is a show type budgie baby and the other is a pet type baby budgie. Kind of shows the difference in sizes
  18. Ignore the fact of eggs and remove it anyway. She needs to rest. Throw away any eggs so she can.
  19. Two clutches is enough in one year. Removal of nestboxes will stop incessant breeding. Keeping budgies in an area with nestboxes promotes them to breed. You can stop it and rest her by removing the nestboxes. If you cant, then remove the mother to a resting cage. Good news about the baby.
  20. Hi

The idea is to recut them so they do fit. Mirrors are not a good idea for budgies.
