wow, swings look great. I might have a go. Is it okay to use wooden beads (coloured ones)? Depends what has coloured the wooden beads...are they safe dyes etc ? and budgies chew wood. At least with the coloured plastic ones there is no dyes or paint to come away. Those pony beads are easily found in the $2 shops. The plastic makes for easy cleaning too.

I have held many a budgie upside down for treatment and they didnt die. I believe the true issue here is what is happening to the birds crop when being held as pressure in the wrong places and being held incorrectly can force food from the crop into the lungs and a bird aspirates. In addition, I heard from someone once who could not understand why his chicks were dying not long after he leg-ring them. I checked the way they were holding the babies when ringing them and sure enough they were squashing the crop forcing crop contents up and out and into the lungs...the chicks died from aspirating crop contents.

First time Mum is she ? Is she over 12 months ? One of the hardest things to do is breed one pair at a time. When you do you have no back up plan to transfer any chicks to other nests. Its scary. But as Anne says there is food in the crop so far. Bear in mind a tiny new baby will only have like half a drop of food in its crop...we seems to expect more but a newly hatched doesnt show much food. This will change with time.

Might be one way for Splat to get her travel boxes back as you have them both now :rofl:

What a little ripper

As the vets I was going to has several vets you can see, I have requested that we dont get allocated the vet I had the displeasure of talking with before....the dreaded Kevin. However tonight we took Maggie and the pups for a follow up checkup to one of the other vets there. I wanted to show them she and pups were doing fine under our care. Fact is, not only is Maggie feeding the pups well now, and we are feeding Maggie well.............Maggie had actually gained 2 kilos in the days since Saturday. If she was struggling to feed puppies on our food not the vets food, then she would not have gained weight at all. Not only are the pups and mother well and thriving but mother and pups both have gained weight. Pups have doubled size at least too. I deliberately took them back for the checkup tonight because I wanted to prove that we knew what we were doing and that all was well. The vets we saw tonight and all the vet nurses were thrilled to see maggie and pups looking so good :rofl: Suck eggs Kevin

Hi Kaz, Did you determine that through the photos or the description that I gave about her cere now? What about the younger budgie? Would you please be able to confirm it's gender for me? Thank you very much. Older ones cere is quite white...indicates female

Maggie's mother has pancreatitis. I wouldnt breed any dog that had an issue. Maggie is fine. Just found out in research recently too that the issue Cricket has with her pancreas not working is due to over supply of calcium....the treatment when Cricket had pups and got milk fever was calcium doses by the vet while she was in hospital and also afterwards. The dosage can be overdosed as well as underdosed. Now we know why she got the pancreas issue.

Recessive pied females have the same cere as any other female ....it goes brown just like any other. If it doesnt you have a male.

you wont break its toes if you put it on at the right age and if you get shown how to do it
