Egg Bound Hen
With the amount of nestchecking you have been doing, it seems there is nothing you could have done in this case. Some of them just look like they are incubating and you leave them to it, and then they take one step outside the box and die. I would say you are doing all you can and you are very observant, so please dont kick your self over this. No blame okay ?

Meet The Newest Member Of Our Family
Well if you are "bear's" main carer when Greg isnt around, pretty soon Bear will only come to one name and then Greg will have to wonder whose dog he is

Question Regarding Chick
And spangle can have a pied spot on the head, too. True

Leaving The Nest Early
Most babies leave the nest at age 4-6 weeks. Too early would be considered not fully feathered. If not fully feathered I put mine back. Sometimes they end up out of the nest when reaching for Mum and Dad to feed them from the nestbox hole and they slip out. Sometimes the Mum boots them out to lay the next clutch. Sometimes they fall out if the nestbox hole is to low.

Today's The Day!
Lilac coloured cere can also look that way if white is mixed with blue. Just remember no white if you want a male budgie Toys they like......linked rings. Plastic budgies that loop through the perch and bob up and down. Dont buy anything with string type fringing that is longer than 2 inches or be prepared to cut it shorter. No sandpaper for the bottom of the cage. No sandpaper perches.

Today's The Day!
What kind of cage do you have ? because you mention cage hopping not flying. Never mind, I just saw your cage. Not ideal but it will do for now. We have a great topic on cages in our forum. Remove the grit. It isnt needed. No toys with mirrors or shiny bells etc. Baby budgie sexing.... ( dont rely on petshop to get it right as they rarely ever do ) ..........any white on budgies cere means female, even if the white is with blue......female. Bright pinky purple is a male. Pick for health not colour....no poopy bottom, no stained bottom ( yes...look UNDER the budgie ). Dont choose the fluffy budgies

Greywing To Dilute ? Pairing
Greywing spangle hen chick is now a mother She was paired to a skyblue greywing cock Interestingly there seems to be three spangle greywings in the nest and one greywing.

Egg Bound Hen
Well huge poops are normal before egg laying, as is eggbum, and time in the nestbox. Nothing else seems to indicate she is eggbound at all. If she was she would look very ill within 24 hours of trying to pass her egg and it wouldnt go on for weeks.
-
Egg Bound Hen
I would. What made you think she was eggbound ?
-
Egg Bound Hen
Sounds like you didnt need to remove her from the breeding cage at all..........and she doesnt sound like she is eggbound either.

New To Forum And 2 Baby Budgies
If a cere has any white on it including white with blue it is female The green seems to have white with the blue on the cere ?? so if so that would make it a female. The yellow bird is NOT a DF spangle............it has wing markings and colour on the body. It may be a dilute. The green budgie is whats called a NORMAL GREEN.

Flying Overseas With My Budgie.
AQIS is who you need to talk to. Pets can be taken with you and brought in. But you havent said where you are going and if its holiday or permanent. There are a whole set of rules and regulations and it all depends on the laws of the country you are EXPORTING your pet from and the country you are IMPORTING your pet into. Exporting a companion pet http://www.daff.gov.au/aqis/export/live-animals/companion and importing rules is to be directed to the country you are going to which you havent said. Its not as simple as a suitable container, a flight and so on.

Dimi A Bit Older. Male Or Female?
Beak isnt changing colour. The cere is. Seems male although the light conditions on that photos are dull. If there is any white with the blue that would make it female. But looks male to me in that photo.

Budgie Photography!

One Of My Blue Ringers
He has very nice feather doesnt he ?

I Am Getting Another Budgie!
Another boy would be a good idea. Remember the cere will be bright pink in a young male. Any cere that is white or white and blue is female. Remember to quarantine. Seperate cage in a seperate room for minimum 30 days. You can use this time to befriend your new budgie and tame it some. if you have a spare cage, borrow one from someone.

What Mutation?
