- New Budgie Family From New Jersey!
Welcome to the forum. I am not a breeder but there is an excellent article on this forum that goes through the benefit of parent raised bird vs hand fed birds. I do suggest you put them back with the parent until they are weaned and if you want them tamed you can handle them vs feeding them or you can give them treats as they get older. The benefits of parent raised birds are huge...especially with behavioral issues. Anyways, welcome again.- Introducing Rasur

Voting will stay open for 3 days, if you have questions please feel free to PM me, don't leave comments. Thank you!! Good luck to all that entered- Dilution
We have a good explanation of a grewwing vs a dilute in the FAQ of our website along with a good picture to help figure it out, it doesn't work like the spangle gene but good thought.- My Budgie Is Biting Also
I know there is a thread if you do a search here on biting and how different people hand it. If your budgie is tame you can take him off your hand if he bites you, you can say no, some people with light flick their beak but I find that makes Merlin bite back, it can also be more around molting time where they get more hormonal and when that happens I do tend to leave Merlin alone more where I won't be so hands on.- Hello !
- Scratching Like Chicken?
yes, they are just exploring, Merlin will do that at times. I do suggest that they don't walk on the floor though it is actually dangerous. Not only can you accidently step on them they can pick at the carpet an may ingest some OR they can pick up dirt or something that may be stuck in the carpet that you may not see and that is not healthy. This is a personal opinion a lot of people do let their birds on the floor I personally do not.- What Sex Is My Budgie?
Looks male but it has a cere that looks like a hen too I say male because it is so pink but the white nasal rings lean toward hen now that was not helpful. did you use a flash for the pics?- Congratulations To May Budgie Of The Month Winner!
What a fanastic picture, congrats to lealotta who took this amazing picture- June 2010 Budgie Of The Month

- Budgie Has Gone Silent
You know if he is not sick he could be just lonely, if he does not perk up when he sees you and talks to you then I would say work on having a stronger bond, Pretty was a very very quiet budgie, didn't move and do anything until I really started to work with him and then when I got Merlin his personality really shined through.- Normal Behaviour?
Have you separated the birds because if he is unwell he can easily spread that to your exisiting bird. When he shivers is it only when you come by the cage to look at him?- Budgie Has Gone Silent
Molting depends on the time of the year, temps in your house there are different factors. I find that Merlin will go through light molts and then do one really heavy molt which usually makes him cranky and quiet. If he is still really quiet is he at least active? Are you saying you don't hear one peep out of him?Molting depends on the time of the year, temps in your house there are different factors. Is that in one day? What do you have her on? Did you go to an AVIAN vet? That is important.- Worms, Worms, Worms!
Where do you think he picked up the worms from? I don't remember how long you have had him or if we was wormed as a baby. - New Budgie Family From New Jersey!
