Here are the pictures of the four budgies that I currently have as of now. Here are some pics of the four budgies I have now.....they have no names, and I'm planning on putting them into my avairy that I'm building. Here is the cage that they are currently housed in............temporary
  2. Did you try fostering the chicks first? Try fostering the chicks to the other parents first, and see what happens from then on....Keep an close eye on the other pair as well. If you try fostering the chicks it will take the burden off of you, and all will be well. If it doesn't turn out with the fostering, I would go back to that Vet and get all the information from him/her so that I would know how to handfeed and how to take better care of the chicks as the parents would. If you absolutely have to handraise the chicks, go back to the vet and get his/her idea of hand-rearing and have him/her give you lessons on how to handfeed. The link that you posted had all the Basic areas on Hand Rearing chicks, but If I was you I'll get all the info from the net as I can get.....and more from the Vet. Good luck on what happens with you and the chicks and I hope that all goes well:)

    Welcome to the forums:)
  4. What if you could possibly move the log inside the cage somehwere. There maybe a possiblity that she would continue to take care of the eggs and there wont be a possible chance of a chick falling and dyine. You also may can wait untill one of the chicks hatch and them move the log into the cage, so that the hen will know where her egg's and the chick is inside her cage.

  14. The minimum breeding age is 1 year. By waiting untill your birds are at least a year old, you will have a better chance for success because the birds energy will go into breeding rather than into maturing and breeding at the same time. Signs of being ready to breed include: ripping-up newspaper, birds mutually feeding each other, males trying to click their beaks to the females, or tapping their beaks on the perches. The male's cere--the band above the beak--will be a bright blue. The female's cere will be a dark brown. These colors are hard to distinguish in some color mutations. The birds will be extremely active and the female will call to her mate.

  18. I say female. Look at how light the cere is. No male would have "any" hint of brown.

Try keeping them longer or untill the mother get's tired of them and no longer show's interest in them. If you make a mistake and take them too soon she may lay more in order to keep a full clutch.

Try pinning some millet or a seed stick (something with food or seed) right by the enterance of the nestbox hole, maybe that would help.

From the pictures, it seems like he should be able to fly. Maybe he is too heavy for his muscles to be strong enought to lift him off of the ground. He may not of have got the proper excercise from his previous home and when and if the clipped his wing's he may of have stopped trying to fly because he know he couldn't and didn't get enough wing excercise, wich resulted into getting overweight and not developing the proper flight muscles. Did the vet tell you how much he weighed?

So nerwen you have six budgies in your cage right now? Without any problems? Are the dimensions like mine? 32"Width, 21" Depth, 69 "Height with the stand and 32"Width, 21"Depth, 35 "Height cage only? Sorry for so many questions
