What Could I Expect ?
Hobbes and Claire -- would all be normal green (but there may be splits that they have that would give different outcomes) Babies would all be split for blue and dilute, males would also be split for opaline. Papaya and Popcorn -- I think that Papaya may be a double factor spangle -- blue cere, iris ring. Not totally sure. If he is then babies should all be single factor spangle. I'm not totally sure if he isn't yellowface -- if he is yellowface then you could get yellowfaces and blues.. but if he is yellow(green series) they should be green.. All split for recessive pied

Questions And Answers
- What are the worst and most frustrating aspects of showing and show breeding? - It was vague, but I heard that show budgies are more difficult to breed than the pet type - would that mean that it is harder to meet the breeding requirements for them or that the birds themselves are less eager to breed? - Ideally, what characteristics should someone that wants to get involved in showing have? - How time consuming can it become? - Are splayed legged chicks more common with show budgies since the female is larger? Are there different precautions that a show breeder needs to take to prevent chicks from becoming splayed? - When being entered in a show - do the birds have names or are they entered using band numbers? Is it common for breeders to name their show birds? - Are there instances when a show breeder will breed a show bird to a pet type budgie to achieve certain results?

Questions And Answers
1. Where were the first budgie shows and in what country were the first show budgies bred? Were they in England and is that why sometimes show budgies are referred to as English? I read that the colder climate in England had something to do with their development - true or false? 2. Are budgie shows and clubs more common in Australia and the U.K. than the United States?

Bunny And Khepri
Bunny's cute when he's sleeping. Still cute when he's awake too (sometimes) Don't think he likes being disturbed though. I'll have to take some more pictures of Khepri. He molted again and each time he gets a bit darker green/brighter yellow. He has a really nice forest green color above his tail now.

How To Get The Good Food...

Not Corn Again ! We Hate Corn !
You can tell how much they really didn't enjoy it. They hated it so much they had to make sure it was gone as soon as possible.

He looks like a greywing. Since his mom's named ruby, how about sapphire or sapphy.

Sex Linked Genetics
http://www.kirstenmunson.com/cockatiels/green.html#pfwf That refers to cockatiels.. but I found the Sex-linked part pretty interesting. It seems to me like it would also apply to budgies. What it's saying - just an example off the top of my head (using budgies) Say a pair was a lutino father and a green cinnamon opaline mother. Males would be split to X1 lutino (from dad) and X2 Cinnamon Opaline (from mom) So if you eventually breed one of those males - female babies would be either lutino OR cinnamon opaline -- you couldn't get cinnamon lutino, just opaline, just cinnamon. Cinnamon and Opaline were inherited together on the same X chromosome so they will be passed down together. It goes on to say that crossovers (if cinnamon were to "jump" over to X1 then you could get lacewings and just opaline) do sometimes occur. The whole clutch may not be affected if a crossover occurs.. it could only be one bird. I haven't found anything to say for sure that it works this way with budgies to.. so I'd be interested to know.

What Are These Sweet Babies
All of the babies would be opaline if the hen is an opaline - breeding an opaline (dad) to another opaline you would get all opaline babies. Your babies are all really pretty.

Just Some Of My New Guys......
Daniel and Sherrie are my favorites.. but you got so many pretty ones. I am kind of curious about what some of the new budgies cost? All from the same breeder? Did certain colors set you back more than others? Or if some had better features? I'd assume they were more than the normal "pet" type. If you don't want to talk price that's understandable.. you got some gorgeous ones.

Baby Colors Help
I'm not sure that you can say for sure that they the babies would be female if they are opaline. There's no way of really knowing if their lutino mother is an opaline as well, but if she is since the father is an opaline that would mean that ALL of the babies would be opalines, males and females. So if some are opaline and some aren't then the ones that are opaline are females. Males or females could be pied - it's not a sex linked gene It's possible that you could, not guaranteed. If the male is split for opaline then there's a 50-50 chance of the daughters being opaline and a 50-50 chance that the males will be split for it. Same with lutino. You might get lutinos or opalines or even a lutino that is opaline.

What Am I?
Try this one Lovey. http://www.budgieplace.com/colors.html#clearbody I think that when a bird has more dark factors..and color adding genes.. that's when the body color is more visable, called suffusion.. like my grey Dallas -- or it might just work out that some have more than others. If the bird wasn't a yellowface.. it would probably look alot different. http://www.birdhobbyist.com/parrotcolour/clearbody.html

What Am I?
I agree with Texas Clearbody. I was thinking spangle as well.. but the color of the tail feathers is a good point so he probably isn't. I haven't seen a Texas Clearbody Spangle to be sure though.
