hahaa My budgie named err Budgie does this too but Ive added to it and now hes learned that when i stand in front of him and say 'WINGS OUT" he sits on the very edge of the top of the cage wings out the sides slightly shaking and he rocks kinda side to side as if hes a big eagle flying

If its PBFD related wouldn't that mean that hes contagious?

BUG BFER (B fer Budgie) I use to have a peaceful dove named Bug and another named Horse.. (horse seems a popular non horse name huh)

Another place to purchase toys and toy making supplies from is the PRC (Parrot Rescue Center) http://www.parrotrescuecentre.com/ I buy all of my parrot toys and supplies here.. I like the thought of helping the rescued parrots.. Slightly off topic but still in the toy department, I made my Eclectus hen Ruby and my Sulphur Crested Cockatoo Frankie some homemade "foraging" toys for Christmas.. I got carried away and was going to use some of the smaller twig balls for the budgies and stuff them with yummy treats to hang up ... I managed to forget and use them all :laughter: also couldnt wait for Christmas before i gave them to them hahahaaa

:28: Daz that is fantastic.. I just called my daughters over (Miss 11 and 12.5) over and read it out to them.. They are at an age where they are starting to loose the whole Christmas magic thing no matter WHAT i try but HAHAAAA you should have SEEN their faces when i read that all out.. it was truly priceless and i have orders to keep checking back for updates and the youngest is now watching the clock Thank you for adding a lil more excitement :laughter:

We only get into care those little sugar gliders on a rare occasion.. they don't seen very keen on them hahaaa.. We do feed them to little micro bats though

Jimmy between myself and the two other carers, we can go through THOUSANDS of the lil monsters each week.. Its really hard to actually keep up the stocks and quite often we need to get them express posted in

I have a bit of a mealworm "farm" going on hahaaa.. I try and convince the budgies that they are fun to eat but the most they like to do is run over them and feel them wiggling under their toes :baby: The larger parrots eat them and i also add Insectivore to the bran mix, it makes me feel a little better as they really have not much nutritional content as they are.. I mainly breed them though for Wildlife that comes in and also in case the other wildlife rescuers need some (I'm remote, no pet shops here to just go and get some from) I use plastic tubs with a hole cut out from the lid and fly screen stuck on with silastic, then i just fill the tub with oat bran but i deep freeze it first as it sometimes has bugs in it that invades the mealworms (Grrrr) I feed them Carrot and Potato Skins, Insectivore mix and occasionally water soaked bread for extra moisture.. they sometimes get Apple, celery etc etc also.. I separate the Darkling bugs and pupa into one tub.. and the beetles then breed and lay eggs in the bran and on the dry peels.. When they develop into baby mealworms i move the bubs into a fresh container of Bran mix and leave the beetles in their tub to keep doing their thing until they all eventually get too old for it all and die .. By this time though the mealworm baby's have grown up and some are already turning into pupa/beetles so the cycle continues.. Mind you if you don't use them as much as i do, After one breeding cycle you will have them coming out of your EARS :mallet: they breed SO MANY... The big tub that they are sitting in on the bottom has water in it to stop ants this time of year (wet season) but I have 4 of these tubs that are usually on the run with worms also

I'm Deeply Sorry at the loss of your baby.. Your dog being blind probably thought he has done such a wonderful job in protecting you and the house, poor lil sausage.. RIP lil guy :angel1:

Ive learned MANY things in here but my BIGGEST lesson by far was discovering and learning about Coccidiosis.. After loosing more than 30 birds to it a few years back, its the one lesson ill NEVER forget and id not wish it upon ANYONE.. It was the one most heartbreaking experience Ive been through yet but all the help and knowledge i received in here got me and my remaining birds through :hi: (thank you again KAZ.. its one lesson ill NEVER forget) Slowly I'm getting back into Budgies after being out of them for so long (except for the few i have already) There is still SO MUCH to learn.. Its like a conversation a fellow Wildlife carer and myself often have .. "there is just so much to learn, I doubt ill ever learn it all in this lifetime" .. Its just nice having a group of like minded people to fall back on for advice and help

Hmmm perhaps if you just put something like lino straight down you will run the risk of rotting out the timber decking with moisture caught between the two (either from rain or just condensation) .. I'm not sure if its a great idea or not but you could perhaps line the bottom with mouse proof wire or something so that the wood can still breath and you could hose out easy.. I'm guessing it would be really not much different to a suspended aviary although if your birds spend ages on the ground the wire could cause foot problems (bumble foot its called in gineapigs hahaa I'm not sure what its called in birds) Well seems I'm not really much of a help after all :budgiedance: Hopefully others will have ideas ot help
