What Do You Think?

okay, we got our new cage it is all up and together. I have not taken a picture of it yet but here is what it does look like. http://cgi.ebay.com/Bird-Cage-cages-Ferret...oQQcmdZViewItem (we ended up getting green vein, and the cage actually cheaper then listed because before he had it all combined with shipping and handling, so he changed how to pay for it)

Anyways, if this was your cage what would be the best way to arrange the perches so both birds can get maximum flight and use out of their new cage? I haven't put either one of them in it yet because I want to make natural perches, here is the link

http://www.mdvaden.com/bird_perches.shtml & I am going to make swings etc..first this weekend.

Thanks for your advice in advance.

Ive ordered the exact same cage Elly but mine has 2 doors at the front.

Ive also ordered this one too, so maybe we can compare notes once we start arranging them hehe.

you will love it Booms - I was going to do the 2 doors but the 1 door was slightly wider but a tinch shorter I think. I also my thought was I could get in there better to clean it. I can my whole body fits through the front door (Laughing out loud).

I love that 2nd one too -

Beware if you bought it off the same person I did he doesn't send instruction :P

Let me know how you arrange.

Im only little I could probably get in the small doors to be honest they arent that small anyways.

Oh its okay Boomhubby can put stuff up pretty good without instructions - well lets hope he can hehe.

The green one should arrive tomorrow and the other one Friday.

my hubby had it together in a 1/2 hour :P

Oh well lets see what Boomhubby can beat him - I very much doubt hehe.

Im excited about setting them up and getting them in, they will hate me for a few days. Candy even hated me last nigtht because I cut the grass and had the door open and the mower was making a noise hehe.

I have dowel perches on either end up high to allow max flight space (mine is twice the length of yours) and a high night resting spot. I also have natural branch perches that run the full length of each half about the mid height point of the cage. I have small calcium perches and a few other dowels down low.

I would suggest keeping your middle up high open as much as possible. You can have a high perch just keep it near the back or front of the cage. Branch perches will work nicely in the middle and can just slide between the bars - no harware required. You can check out the first video in http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index.php?showtopic=9822 to get an idea of how mine is set up.

do you have anything going widthwise? I am saving that post, so you just lay the branches between the cage bars yes?

A little off topic here Lovey....just had a brilliant plan to clone Bubbles. It involves introducing Bubblegum to some rope :P I then post you the rope........how's it sounding so far ???? Are you following the plan ? ^_^

I am following...:(Laughing out loud): but I need a hen and I don't have that so you will need to have it all frozen and fertilized for me "a frozen pop"

So what are your ideas for the new cage

:D :fear :fear 9.gif25.gif4.gif

I think your new cage is great. A real palace ( the Taj Mahal )...........I kinda like the idea of the perches that project from the sides but dont go all the way across for some of the perching arrangements. Whatever you do, you will probably keep changing it a bit to suit their needs anyway as we all do. You can't go too far wrong with a great cage like that anyway.......have fun :D

I think it is the cage...it certainly couldn't be the rope :D:

So when are you sending me the frozen Bubble Clone :fear

Surprisingly the budgies like the thin bits too. They treat that area like a playgym to twist and turn and hang upside down from. :D

great I put them in and I am done with the perches, now I am going to cut 1 in 1/2 and turn it into a dual swing.
