Can you please resize under 450 x 450. These are photos of my new baby skip! I have had him for about 24 hours! Edited January 23, 200619 yr by daz
January 22, 200619 yr Only the fourth picture worked for me but your baby is very cute!! Looks like you may have put img tags in the wrong place or something. Might want to resize the pictures to 450x450 or less before they're taken down for being over the limit.
January 22, 200619 yr I fixed the post so the img tags are right. If you copy the thing on photobucket that already has the [/img] bit at the start and end then you can just paste it into your post without doing anything else. Skip is absolutely adorable by the way!
January 23, 200619 yr Yes he is gorgeous isnt he? about 9 weeks old. The shop lady said he was a rainbow coz of all the colous, I was a bit worried about him because he didn't seem to eat in the first 2 days but I got home from work today to find shell husks everywhere! (Laughing out loud) I'm sure he will be fine!
January 23, 200619 yr I was thinking yellow face type 2 sky blue dominant pied male?? (Laughing out loud) depends whether the colour on his body is a bit greeny or more blue, if it's blue then probably a type 1... but that's just my guess
January 23, 200619 yr it a good guess Lani since it's right. Just a question is that the cage he is going to be staying in? beucase round cages like that aren't the best for them, they like corners to 'hide' in when worried. and they are better longer than higher so they can streach their wings in flight better, althought I see he has one wing cliped. Did the shop do that? Some pet shops like to clip the wings on they birds.
January 23, 200619 yr I can see them all now. Such a pretty budgie! I have to second everything Nerwen said as well. Round cages are not only bad as far as shape goes but the cage looks far too small for your budgie. It looks like whoever clipped the wing had no clue what they were doing. As Nerwen said, both wings should be clipped and the secondaries should *never* be cut. You should take your budgie into an avian vet so that they can even the clip up a bit. Otherwise, your budgie is going to be very off balance and may have trouble with flying once its wing start growing in again. The one-wing clip is kind of like rowing a boat with two very uneven paddles. Edited January 23, 200619 yr by eterri
January 23, 200619 yr He is soooooooo cute!!! I want him!!. He is so beautiful. Like eterri said, both wings should be cut because it is also safer for them, because the budgie can at least control the direction he flies and lands in.
January 24, 200619 yr He is soooooooo cute!!! I want him!!. He is so beautiful. Like eterri said, both wings should be cut because it is also safer for them, because the budgie can at least control the direction he flies and lands in. Yes the shop did clip him like that, I would not have had him clipped given the choice. I took the cage to the shop and the lady said it was fine, although I was considering buying a bigger square one. I only live in a small flat so I can't have like a big aivery type thing, any suggestions on a suitable size and possibly cost if you have some idea (australian dollars!) thanks for all the input guys
January 24, 200619 yr the best size is at least 18" x 18" x 18" although if you can't get that then go for a cage that is bigger length ways rather then a tall cage.
January 24, 200619 yr I took the cage to the shop and the lady said it was fine One thing to remember at pet shops is that they usually have no idea what they're talking about. This is Blinkie's cage. It's about 18"x18"x18" and is a good size for him to be comfortable in. It only cost me $40AU which is really cheap for a budgie cage. Just a tip but if you're going to be buying from a pet shop then the bird cages will probably be VERY overpriced so you can also look at rodent cages. They're usually larger, cheaper and have horizontal bars which are much better for budgies to climb around. Make sure the bar spacing is no larger than 1/2 inch (i think) and if you go for a rodent cage most come with ramps and platforms so see if they can be removed so there's more perch space and stuff.
January 26, 200619 yr Very pretty baby.. He'll be really gorgeous when all grown up. Thanks for all the advice guys As of today Skip has a brand new cage! its about 45cm square and he looks much more comfy!, i will posta picture soon. He wont play with any toys tho :budgiedance: I think coz of his clipped wing (they did a bad job) he can't balance properly so I think he is scared to balance on things and climb my poor babay. I hope to take him to the vet on the weekend to get his other wing clipped to even the poor thing up. He is so gorgeous, he is on my shoulder now eating my hair (Laughing out loud) (not really, just making a mess of it!)
January 28, 200619 yr that's great to hear I love it when they 'mess' up your hair, not they can with mine with all the curls built in :hap:
January 29, 200619 yr Nice pics, sweet budgie I posted pics of his new cage in the Where do you live topic of the pictures thread He is soo much happier in this one!
