Posted January 11, 200619 yr Had Bluey to the vet yesterday and bought him a new cage on the way home for being such a brave little boy Edited January 12, 200619 yr by Bluebudgie
January 11, 200619 yr I love it so does Bluey but the only problem is that he has started chewing the bars again? I had to get rid of the last new cage I bought him about 2 months ago because he done the same thing. He had only been in for about 20 minutes last night when he started.
January 11, 200619 yr Well Ive just put his play gym in the cage as he loves chewing the wood on that so maybe that will stop him. I tricked him last night after he started chewing i rubbed some lemon on it. When he went back for another go he got a shock hehe :
January 11, 200619 yr i got somthing called a bordem breaker its a large piece of thik rope with wooden blokes attached and my birds looovve it well jj does he clikbs all over it and attacks it its soooooo cute!*its parrot size*maybe bluey would like that?
January 11, 200619 yr Thanks smily, he seems to play with the same toy all of the time and ignores other new toys? I was considering taking it out and giving him no option but to try new ones. Hes got something to chew (cant remember the name) I dont think its boredom as he started within 20 minutes of putting him in - when I was right next to him as well Im going to have a look on FP's website and ebay for some new ideas.
January 11, 200619 yr no my birds dont get bored they just enjoy attaking it  its that green rope thing with the blokes on it
January 11, 200619 yr My budgies really enjoy shredding shredded paper. Like the stuff put in a shredder and its all long and stringy. I put a handful of that in their cage and theyshred it all and love it.
January 11, 200619 yr Cute cage, I'm sure Bluey is pleased. I agree, try to get some shreddable toys for him. Paper is a favorite, definitely. Â Also, he could really use some different perches! using perches of the same size/shape/texture makes for sore budgie feet.
January 12, 200619 yr Thanks for that one eterri. Hes got a playgym which he plays on most of the night outside his cage whuich has square edges but I will get him some nice branches : Youve just jogged my memory - the chewy play thing I mentioned earlier is a shreddie but he wont touch it.  no my birds dont get bored they just enjoy attaking it its that green rope thing with the blokes on it  That looks fun.  And Sailorwolf thats a great idea - Ive got a shredder, its a good way to put all that wasted paper to good use
January 12, 200619 yr He looks very happy in his new cage. But it's way too big (the picture, not the cage, LOL) so please resize it. Thanks.

January 12, 200619 yr  There should be an option somewhere on photobucket's website once you log on to resize by percentage. You should be able to select the picture, then resize it. Let me look to see where it is.  okay, once you select the picture, click on the edit button above it. Edited January 12, 200619 yr by Rainbow

January 27, 200619 yr Hi Lovey, Ive had a busy week so havent had much chance to chat here. Hes absolutely fine, Ive had to take him out of his cage as he started eating it - like he did with his other new one No more new cages for him Im afraid. Its probably my fault as they were quite cheap. have you read my post on his visit to the vet that gives a bit more info on how hes doing
January 28, 200619 yr That's a nice cage. Have you found a way to stop his fascination with chewing the bars?
January 29, 200619 yr Sometimes I find they go for the bars even more if you try and stop them. I just move things around the cage to the places where the chewing takes place.
