Posted January 7, 200619 yr i think jim is in for a cold,i can see inside his nostril when hes breathing something is blocking the opening and moves everytime he breathes?
January 7, 200619 yr is it discharge? I don't believe budiges just get a cold like humans, when they get sick they need to be seen by an Avian Vet ASAP, so they can determine if he should be on antibiotics. I would take it seriously if you believe it is a true cold.
January 7, 200619 yr Author he seems to be okay though, still yapping away and playing about.i will keep an eye on him to see if his behaviour changes
January 7, 200619 yr I saw something inside Sunny Boys nostril last week and it turned out to be a small seed husk that eventually came out on it's own in a few hours. If you do not think it is a stuck seed or husk he should be seen by a vet to check for infection.
January 7, 200619 yr good idea check and see if it is a husk, I didn't think about that Budgies even though they are sick can still act very normal, in the wild if they acted sick they would be prey so they can disguise it. Just keep an eye on him :ausb: Â This came from our FAQ section http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/faqs/i...d=38&artlang=en Edited January 7, 200619 yr by lovey
January 7, 200619 yr Author its not a husk,at least i dont think so as its not moving now and his nostril is almost closed??
January 7, 200619 yr its not a husk,at least i dont think so as its not moving now and his nostril is almost closed?? Â I would get to the avian vet
January 8, 200619 yr I would get to the avian vet  I second that.  Even if it doesn't seem serious now by the time it does it is often too late.
January 8, 200619 yr You can try your regular vet speak with them and see how knowledgeable they are on birds.
January 8, 200619 yr Author got up today, checked him out and his nostrils are totally clear?? Â about when will his cere change blue??
January 8, 200619 yr Jim's a recessive pied so his cere will stay pink forever. Glad his nose has cleared up.
January 8, 200619 yr Author okay now im embarressed.......dont know what you mean by pied....please dont laugh at me
January 8, 200619 yr Oh thank you Welshman. Another person who doesn't understand mutations and genetics Swing over to the lessons Nerwen has been giving, a lot is explained there
January 8, 200619 yr You can also go to eterri's site http://budgietalk.com/ and click on mutations and read about recessive pieds . I check out the new BBC mutation link and it is not finished yet.
January 8, 200619 yr That's good news about Jim. It could also have been a really small fluffy feather that got down there.
January 8, 200619 yr got up today, checked him out and his nostrils are totally clear?? Â Glad to hear it!! He must have had a few good sneezes and cleared whatever it was out...good little birdie.
January 9, 200619 yr Yep FP I was going to suggest a feather mine get them all the time. I often feel like pulling them out hehe. Â Glad Jim is okay.
January 9, 200619 yr Blinkie always gets them stuck to his face so i have to blow the away. Sometimes i kiss him and use that as a way to get the feather.
