Air Conditioning

Summer is here and so is my family constantly whining about wanting the air conditioner on. :D Blinkie's cage is in front of it but to the side so i have convinced them to keep it set so the cold air is going straight out (along the roof instead of up and down) and pointing away from Blinkie's cage. I've also made it so the temperature doesn't get lower than about 22C as well as leaving the folding door into the front room open while Blinkie is in his cage (this covers the side of his cage facing the air conditioner) to try to stop any escaped coldness blowing in his direction. I would move the cage but because of Buffy it's not safe to put him anywhere else in the living room and i refuse to lock him in a bedroom. :D Do you think he'll be alright? I've kept budgies in the lounge room with the air-conditioning on before just not so close (but the air con was set colder and waving everywhere). I'm guessing i'm being a tad paranoid. :D

Can you cover the top of the cage with a towel, to stop the worst of the breeze getting on him? It can get very cold when you have a constant cool breeze on you, try and block most of it from him

Oh I dont know Bea it never gets warm enough in this country to use air conditioning. To be honest I dont know anyone that has it, must be nice when its really hot though.

I think it'll be alright. With the folding door open it means the cool is spread out so when i walked from outside to inside there wasn't the usual cold rush, just slightly cooler. I've blocked almost 100% of the cold going on him by changing the direction of the breeze and with the door so he should be very comfy, more comfy than the poor birdies outside, they were trying to cool off by putting their wings out this arvo so i gave them some bathing water.

Wow it must be super hot then, are you getting in a spot of sun bathing too!

No but i sure am looking forward to sleeping in the shade in my hammock! :D

Careful Bea, the skin cancer authorities are issuing warnings not to forget that you can still get burnt in the shade.

Im glad it doesnt get that hot here, the hottest it ever got was 30 and the weather people said that it was a heatwave!

Last summer it hit 46 Celcius (115 Fahrenheit) twice and 38 celcius (100 Fahrenheit) too many times to count...

Its so weird that its summer where you are, and I'm freezing my toes off up here... :bluebudgie:

Wow Birdie, you were hotter then us and you are up north more. I think we hit 95F the hottest this last summer. We have a lot of humdity that is really what kills us, it can be 80 and terrible because of the humidity or 90 and not feel that hot. :bluebudgie:

Yea... One time when it was about 110 F We had so much humidity it felt like 120 F at least... and we don't have air conditioning :bluebudgie: we go shopping when it gets that hot, because all the stores are air conditioned. And the birds take baths twice a day :nest:
