Posted November 7, 200519 yr okay, I know I should wait till the first molt..but he was so cute when I was working so I took a picture of him helping me . Majority said male, couple said wait until first molt. Here is when I first purchased him his cere picture - that is was the end of September http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d51/elly1210/100_0785.jpg Here is a picture today http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d51/elly1210/100_0850.jpg (this one you can really see the yellow banding now too) http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d51/elly1210/100_0851.jpg (this one is kinda of dark) Reading what eterri says on her site about sexing that if there is white ring around their nostrils it is a female but his cere is a purply coloring. It is so deceiving in different lighting. What do you think? female, male, or just be patient Edited November 7, 200519 yr by lovey
November 7, 200519 yr Be patient. I would guess male still. His head is very rounded and the cere still looks smooth, but you are right - looks are deceiving in the right light. Does the faint color difference around the nostrils really look white? It just looks slightly lighter than the rest of the cere on my monitor.
November 7, 200519 yr Males can have nostril rings too but usually they're not really white but more of a very very light purple or blue. The rest of the cere is really even-colored so I'd guess he's male.
November 7, 200519 yr Author Be patient. Does the faint color difference around the nostrils really look white? It really does look white right now but then at times it does look more blended. Patience, I am such an impatience person It is not that really important to me but my kids keep asking then they argue. My dd of course wants a girl and my son is all boy

November 7, 200519 yr Author That's what I was thinking too. It's funny how the kids have such a preference, isn't it? Do they like to help take care of him? Yes they do, we took his cage apart yesterday for a complete cleaning, there are more worried about which toys to put in there (that he doesn't play with yet), and who's finger he should be sitting on (Laughing out loud). November 7, 200519 yr Im going to say boy as my Max had a cere like that and although its turned blue now it still has pale bit around the nostrils.
November 8, 200519 yr Guess at male. The 3rd picture is so unusual, on my screen it looks like a big budgie head, great.
