It looks more of a male to me, :) a young one. :(

Do you think that from looking at the first picture samlorson,or the second one?

Put your hand underneath him Julie and ask him to cough :)

Oh boy,that made me laugh!

Be polite....."turn your head and cough, Please"

:):)

But of course! :)

I am pretty sure Sherbets a boy. My Bobby sometimes has the odd brown bit on his cere, and warbling is definitely a male thing. My males feed other males especially Bobby and Candy and they are housed together. Max feeds everyone including one of my Cockatiels.

I think you can be safe to say he is a little boy!

By the way I love the look on birdies face he is so cute!

Oh I do hope so Boomberry! I'm afraid nether of them look at their best there poor things.Funnily enough at the moment,Birdy, who has always been the most skittish is now being the friendliest towards me and will stay on my finger the longest while Budgy2 still hates me and Sherbet only wants to bite me!

As requested this is Sherbets' cere after his moult is nearly done,I thought I'd taken some really clear pics but I'm a bit disappointed.Does this help anyone to tell his sex or do I need a clearer one? He is almost 8 months now.

Also Rainbow-I've been watching carefully for the things you mentioned and he does bob his head constantly,as for feeding,he will feed the others but they also feed him too. Sherbet will warble on his own, staring into space,I would say they are softer-never harsh, and he does that excited "yes, yes, yes," head bobbing.Hard to say whether he sings on his own or not as they all tend to join in at the same time. He/she is definitely attempting to become top of the pecking order.Does this help at all!?

Jules, you know my extensive experience  I would say boy, so I'm probably wrong... :P:P:P

Oh I do so hope you're right Lin!

Yay! two for boy then!

Deffinatly a female.

Julie, I'd need a bit clearer picture. Sorry! It does look all blue in the first picture though. I'd say if there is no other color besides deep blue on it, he's a he. If there is a hint of any other color I'd be a little suspect about the sex. Would you mind trying for another picture?

Thanks everyone-I'll aim for a clearer picture!

I don't see anyway that that cere is anything but male! It's so blue!

I have a feeling that these pics confirm male for me! What do you think?

Well-here's an update on Sherbet my puzzling male/female budgie.

After he had (I thought) settled back down to male he has suddenly started to claim this little toy as a nest(I think) and he guards it against all comers. He lays quite comfortably flat on top of it and now Birdy has started to feed 'him' on the 'nest' for goodness sake! I don't what's going on!

Is that toy a mirror perch with a treat holder? Maybe he just doesn't want those other birdies to take his favourite place. His cere definitely says male though. Do budgies in single sex environments start behaving opposite to balance things out? :fear

Julie, has it worked out for you...is he a he or is she a she??? -_-
