Posted August 30, 200519 yr sounds great and gooby loves it but is it okay for him to eat? It contains coloured seeds (red and green).
August 30, 200519 yr does he like it more than ordinary seed? i am always cautious of anything with added colours. i think there are some preservatives that i think rainbow knows the names of that you have to be vary wary of. i will try and find the thread on here. look on the ingredients for those. EDIT**** just found it its called ethoxyquin. im sure there are more to look out for though. Edited August 30, 200519 yr by pixie25
August 30, 200519 yr I think it would be okay if it's not his only diet. Mine get a bit of seed mix every day (besides the Beak appetit, birdie bread and wheatgrass) and it has a small amount of colored seed, but the colored seed is such a small percentage of their diet I'm not too worried. They eat the avi-cakes more often than the plain seed mix. So, I guess after all that rambling, I think he'll be fine as long as he's not eating 100% colored seeds. Sorry I'm so chatty today!

August 31, 200519 yr I used to feed it to my birds. I got it because it doesn't contain ethoxyquin, but it does contain BHA or BHT (I forget which). My birds loved it too, but I've switched seeds so I don't feed it anymore.
September 3, 200519 yr well i fill one seed pot up with that and the other with trill and he eats from both. i was only curious as i read in another post about the dangers of colourings in bird food and i panicked.
September 14, 200519 yr I got some of this Budge and Tobi adores it, does Gooby like it? I also bought the tiel version but they arent as taken.
September 14, 200519 yr It should be okay in small doses, as a sort of treat. I sometimes use one of the Vitakraft products which has very scary colours, it also has aniseed which makes my bird go barmy when he eats them :sport:
