Okay , That website ... Is plain wrong ... Seriously a bird diaper??

If they're making bird diapers, I assume there must be a market for it? :grouphug:

Just because there are idiots who buy from this site doesnt make it right!

The poor birds must end up with their rear end feathers caked in poop, and what about the stress to the bird whilst putting the diaper on and off them.

Dont some people realise owning any sort of animal involves cleaning up after them. If you dont want to be responsible and take on animal care dont own an animal or bird.

Sorry for the rant but things like this make me angry. An animal/bird is just that you shouldnt try to humanize them.

Phew glad to have got that off my chest feel better fot that now. :)

I totally agree with you Bruciesmum. When i first saw bird diapers advertised on ebay, i thought they were incredibly cruel. When i saw this website it made me upset. Secondly, they sell leads and harnesses. To tether a bird in Australia, is illegal. Don't get me started on the outfits.

I bird cannot preen with a diaper on them as they cannot access their preening gland.

You would have to be an idiot to use a bird diaper or so obsessive about cleaning that a small budgie dropping bothers them. A diaper would not be a good thing for a bird...it would drive them crazy as well and make a mess inside the diaper as Brucies Mum says

well i disagree with the nappy but its not illegal to harness a bird in Australia however its illegal to chain one

i have a harness for my cocky and it gets her in and out of the cage and to the house also i can work in garden with her safly on my sholder or walk around yard with her

its a soft harness and very compatible for her

and personally i prefer that than to clip her wings

I agree.... what kind of idiot came up with a birdy diaper?!

..... The flightsuit does not leave a bird's vent area dirty and messy... the collection pouch is held away from a bird's vent area...I think if you were to go and see the videos and do more research on flightsuits you wouldn't be so quick to judge the people who invented it or use it..........Some people argue that harnesses are also dangerous for birds....................I agree with Kaz about them not being able to preen themselves, but the birds are not meant to be kept in a flightsuit for "long" periods of time anyway..... it is recommended that the filghtsuit's liner be changed every 3-4 hours AT LEAST....A flightsuit with a leash on protects your birds from flying away just like a harness does......And just like every other thing we use on/with/around our birds... the flightsuits need to be gradually introducesd o them so that they are accustomed to it...........I think that more research and reading needs to be done before you judge a particular product and the people who created them and use them...................................

I have to agree with you, I still dont approve of putting "clothes " of any description on birds and animals, yet again just my opinion.

If you let your bird fly free all day in a safe environment does that mean you leave the suits on all day and contain the poop, or do you decide when its okay to let them go without a suit and poop everywhere?

If its okay to poop everywhere sometimes surely its okay to let them poop freely all the time, it takes seconds to clean up after them!

Maybe my opinion is wrong? But it is my opinion.

Everyone has a right to their own opinion, I agree... What I don't agree with is the name calling.. especially over something that you obviously haven't heard much about or know about....

Like I said before, people also argue that harnesses are dangerous for birds.... so why do people use them? Because they feel that it is a safe way for them to transport their birds from one place to another (be it short or long distances). A flightsuit works very much the same way as a harness with regards to a leash being attached to it... it is to ensure that a bird does not "fly" away or get spooked away... it just has the added bonus of containing poop. It doesn't stop them from pooping naturally or inhibit their flying. Some people enjoy being able to have their bird with them wherever they go... car rides, trips to the market etc.....

There are also people who just don't like poop dropping everywhere in their houses/ on clothes etc..... Yes, it's not "that much" of a hassle to clean up after them, but if they are going to be out for free flight for a few hours everyday why not just keep that interaction with you "poop free" without causing any harm to them... people train their birds to poop on command/ before they come out of the cage etc... Why don't you call those people stupid for stopping their birds from doing what is natural (ie:pooping freely)?

I currently don't own a budgie but fully intend on using a flightsuit for it's free flight time when I get one.....

Everyone's entitled to their own opinions... this is mine...

okay guys... Everyone has their own opinions and no one is right or wrong. Let's leave the debate on what's stupid or not alone and get back on topic. Any futher name calling/arguing will see this topic closed. :)
