Posted April 5, 200916 yr Just thought those of you who are interested might like to see what Cosmo is like now towards the end of his first moult. We got him at the end of September, 2008, and he looked like this: Not long after, he started to brighten up and look like this: Then in January he hit puberty, and started to look more like this: And NOW.... *drumroll* today on the 5th of April, 2009 (just over 6 months since we first got him).... He looks like this! He has turned quite green: lol probably not that exciting to those of you with hundreds of budgies but I still think it's pretty special  :grouphug:
April 5, 200916 yr Author Thanks guys, I think he looks nice too :grouphug: I'm guessing he's about 9 months old. He still doesn't have totally white iris rings, and is still finishing off his first moult. We got him at the end of September, so I'm just guessing he hatched some time during July (maybe early July). What do you think?
April 5, 200916 yr Author he is a golden-face Really? Everyone said YF2 when I first tried to work out what he was. How can you tell which one is which?
April 5, 200916 yr I think he's a little cutie krosp. He has interesting colouring, kind of a wish-wash of blue and green. Do you think you will breed from him eventually? It would be interesting to see what colour chicks he would have, depending on the colour of the hen of course.
April 5, 200916 yr Author Well, at the moment we're renting and I would like to get back into breeding eventually, but not unless we buy a house and are going to be stable in the one spot for a while. I'm not sure how long that will be, but Cosmo might be too old by then. I will see how things go- it is a possibility that I would breed him, but not that likely. Would be interesting though, you are right about that
April 5, 200916 yr Hey, I have a budgie exactly the same as that! I have no idea when it comes to colours but what is he? I've bred mine with a lutino hen and they had beutiful babies.
April 5, 200916 yr Author I always thought he was a cobalt yellowface type 2 normal... but shannon ^ just said he is goldenface so now I'm not so sure Don't know how to distinguish between YF2 and goldenface
April 10, 200916 yr Cosmo is soooooooo cute!! I have a YF2 Dominant pied and he looks just like that.. his blue color I mean. Edited April 10, 200916 yr by Cory
April 10, 200916 yr I can't remember what RIP budgies said, but I think it was that there are very few YF2s in australia and most of the "yellowface 2s" are actually goldenfaces.
April 11, 200916 yr Cute! One of my budgies started with green and blue feathers in funny patches, then as it grew it lost all the pretty blue it was just green. I love the blue patches he had as a young adult: Edited April 11, 200916 yr by Munchie's Mum
