Posted March 22, 200916 yr I just got a new parakeet 2 weeks ago from a pet shop that is all yellow with black eyes. I've never seen one like her before at this pet shop and i've been going there for 4 years. I wanted to snatch her up before anyone else did because she's so pretty. What kind of parakeet could she be?

A dark eyed clear will have eyes that are a dark plum color throughout its life and a double-factor spangle will have irises that get lighter once it gets older.. and if it was a lutino then it would have red eyes so she must be one of the two KAZ mentioned. March 22, 200916 yr Author These are the best pics that I could get of her. She is really young and really loves trying to fly even though her wings are clipped. Her under body & wings are also all yellow.

Albinos have red eyes because of their lack of pigment. A lutino is not the same thing as an albino. Lutinos do not necessarily have red eyes. To make it perfectly clear: lutino =/= red eyes You do have a lutino parakeet. She looks just like all of the other lutino parakeets I've ever seen. They do not have red eyes, only albino's have red eyes. The reason a bird is called a latino is the fact that they are all or mostly yellow. I have had thease before and tehy are definalty latino's. March 22, 200916 yr yeah i read that answer and rolled my eyes. in regards to your girl Daniel you will know for sure what she is once she has had her first big moult when she gets her adult feathers (brighter and tail is longer) about then she should devolope the white iris rings if she is a Double Factor Spangle, if not then she is a DEC
March 22, 200916 yr When I first looked at her I said dark eyed clear. I dont know why but she just doesnt seem like a df spangle to me. Could be either one but that is just my assumption.

March 29, 200916 yr Looks DEC to me. OF course age will tell with iris rings being the biggest decider, but dont DEC's have the tell tale orange beak? Something about the picture doesnt look DF spangle to me.
April 8, 200916 yr Author She's starting to molt and the feathers on her head is turning a darker yellow. The other feathers haven't started to molt yet. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

She never let me check under her wings but today she did and it's solid yellow. now another question...? when she get old enough to mate and if she is a real DEC and I pair her up with a Lutino Cock how would the babies come out?
