January 24, 200916 yr why a 5th? It is always better to have even numbers, and even numbers of hens and cocks at that. What is your cage like? Cage or aviary? If cage, do they get flight time outside of the cage? Welcome by the way. We all look forward to seeing pics.
January 24, 200916 yr Hi Nickr, welcome, I am the person from the Tiel forum that directed you here. I hope you find all the answers you need! Just ask away, everyone is very helpful here and full of great advice! Cheers, Trish.
January 25, 200916 yr Author Hey yer one of the budgies is like retarted or something it cant fly. i think its mum and dad were like inbred or something so i think dad is going to put it down for its sake. it gets picked on a lot by other birds. My cage is 2m 10cm Long by 2m 10cm High by 1m 20cm Wide so a bit of fly space.
January 25, 200916 yr Don't put him down!. Put him in a separate cage and let him recover for a bit and if you don't want to keep him, rehome him. Birds that can't fly are nicknamed 'runners' and they can make the best pets ever. They are perfectly normal they just can't fly. Edited January 25, 200916 yr by Sailorwolf

If you look closely you will see tail and flight feathers in wing most likely arent even all there. Your cage is big enougb for twice the amount you have already.
January 26, 200916 yr Has it got it's wings clipped? You should NOT put down a bird because it can't fly. As SW said, they make great pets and from what I have heard, you can tame them quite easily. I suggest you go out and buy a smaller cage for him and keep him separate from your other birds. The flight feathers may grow back if he has lost them.
January 26, 200916 yr Hi welcome to the forum. I agree with everyone else...... you should find a new home for it rather than put it down. You shouldn't have a problem finding someone who will want it. They make the best pets. My bird 'Daisy' in my signature is normally feathered in every way and has never looked like a runner as described, but still she doesn't fly. She lives in the aviary with all the rest of my birds, she even has a mate, but doesn't fly. I just make sure there is a branch for her to climb up from the floor of the aviary whenever she looses her balance on a perch. She is the best bird I have ever owned. Very friendly and tame.
