Did I Capture It On Camera?

Featured Replies

On Wednesday, l went to a doctors appointment. After the appointment l decided to go out on a country drive. As l was driving along one of the dirt roads, l could see something up ahead. I drove very slowly as l approached it. When l got really close to it, l was shocked to see what it was but..........I forgot my camera at home!!!! UUUUGGGGHHHH

As l sat in the car complaining and bickering about how stupid of me to forget my camera. I decided to drive back home and hopefully it would still be there. I tried to drive to my place at the speed limit :D and as soon as l got home, l ran to my room and grabbed my camera. I drove all the way back to the spot where l seen it. All in all it took me 30 minutes.

I slowly crept up to the spot aaaaannnnnnnd..............................

Oh wow!!!

I looooove owls :D How special that it stayed there for you too - So awesome :P

Some people say Owl's are some sort of Omen? Beautiful thought thanks for sharing it with us

Below only a few exerpts from Wikipedia, there are alot more than just these but it appears that no matter the culture most believe them to be an omen of some sort

In Hindu Mythology, the barn owl is considered to be the vehicle of Goddess Lakshmi (Goddess of Wealth) and thus it is considered lucky if an owl resides near a house.

Native American tribes saw the owl as the carrier of the elders' spirits.

In Asia Sometimes owls are seen as divine messengers of the gods, while Barn or Horned owls are perceived as demonic figures.

In Indian culture, a white owl is considered a companion and vahana (Vehicle of god/goddess) of Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth, and therefore a harbinger of prosperity.

Prior to the rise of Islam, owls were considered bad omens and associated with evil spirits in most Middle Eastern pagan traditions. In modern times, although such superstitions are less prevalent, owls are still popularly considered "evil" because of their fierce appearance.

In the Malay language, owls are called "burung hantu", literally 'ghost bird'.

The Moche people of ancient Peru worshipped the animal and often depicted owls in their art.

In some parts of Brazil, especially in the states of São Paulo and Minas Gerais, to hear the whistle of an owl or find one is a sign of bad omen.

Love owls they are so unique and gorgeous birds :), I am amazed how big they are but how light they can be because they are all feathers, excellent picture.

They are just gorgeous. My husband accidently hit one in the truck and unknowingly ended up bringing it home. What a shock it was to find such a beautiful bird on the front on the truck! My boys were so upset and I was in tears. My hubby gently removed it from the truck and it was obvious it's neck was broken, so at least it didn't suffer. My boys took a feather each and we then took it down to the bush and gave it a little burial ceremony.

My hubby felt so horrible but as he said, it is a bit hard to swerve when you have 60 tonne on behind you.

That was worth the drive all the way home and back.... so beautiful and so free yet it chose to stay there and wait for you!!!

Very nice. Are they common in your area?

They are common here but l do not see them often, l have only seen a few over the years.
