Posted December 4, 200816 yr Bless 'em! Ernie seems to be getting on so well with everyone and is always willing to step up while out of the cage, so I'm thinking I won't clip his wings. Is this advisable?
December 4, 200816 yr Author BWAHAHAHAHAhaha!!! That's gold!! ...and yet disturbingly accurate! :bliss:
December 4, 200816 yr Great Picture! If your budgie is behaving without his wings clipped then by all means keep them long. I am just paranoid, I always have the worst of luck, so I would probably loose mine.
December 4, 200816 yr Awesome picture of Kaz's for budgie of the month for January Hills..you should add it Excellent picture and your boys are so handsome (that includes Ernie ). Clipping Wings....as long as you know the DOORS, WINDOWS are always shut and he can never get out it would be okay, but if you have doors opening all the time, or if it is active at your house I would consider strict precaution, you know a clipped budgie can fly out and get enough lift to get out of fingers grasp so I think clipping is a "false" feeling of security personally.
December 5, 200816 yr The only reason I have Smokey's clipped is to prevent him flying full speed into anything and doing himself damage. I lost my last budgie in a flying accident when he misjudged his landing on his cage-top perch and flew into the wall... So my reasoning was not for the sake of stopping him from escaping, or even for taming purposes, but more for saftey in a smallish area where he might come into the same trouble Casper did.
December 5, 200816 yr What a lovely photo... thanks so much for sharing . The wing clipping is such a personal choice. I have decided to keep Gucci and Dolce's wings clipped for their safety around the home... not so much in fear of them getting out. Just remember, what ever you decide is not permanent... they'll either grow back or you can re-clip them.
