September 28, 200816 yr I love seeing everyone's flowers they are gorgeous, we have so many whitetail deer in our area that growing flowers is hard because they eat them all, I have a lot of marigolds they don't like them . I love the cherry blossoms we have a cherry tree in our front yard with those same exact blossoms.

I love the cherry blossoms we have a cherry tree in our front yard with those same exact blossoms. hehe... I can't imagine having a deer wandering in and eating the plants in our yard! What a funny mental image! Then again I guess it is as peculiar a mental image as having echindnas munching on our mulch would be for you Elly!? (that's a problem my mum and dad have!) Here are some of the flowers in our little planter box on our apartment balcony: Edited September 29, 200816 yr by CaspersRose
September 29, 200816 yr Some of mine Don't ask me to name them, because when it comes to flowers, I have NO clue - My favourite Rose, also no idea on the type... - Best bit :hap: If any of you know what they're feel free to tell me
September 29, 200816 yr Author CasperRose, They are some lovely flowers - they look so different. Are they a form of daisy?? Libby, your flowers are stunning and the hibiscus is gorgeous
September 29, 200816 yr Hibiscus o.O ? ? That's one flower/tree I do recognise and none of them are one... The dark purple one is a pansy I know that one because we only planted them a few weeks back around my pond But the other names for the others elude me although no hibiscus'
September 29, 200816 yr If you do a search under the genus Lavatera or Malva (there are only a small number of plants in these) you will find the hibiscus looking one (third from the bottom. I'm not sure of it's common name and the species eludes me right now) okay, I stopped being lazy and checked my books, just going by the photo I'd say it's Lavatera arborea commonly called the Tree Mallow Edited September 29, 200816 yr by melbournebudgies
September 29, 200816 yr So it's a type of hibiscus?? Sheesh aye, learn something new every day I've never fed it to the birds because I presumed it wasn't and it's leaves aren't waxy like the hibiscus, they're rather... furry :| Hehe thanks for that MB, so does that mean it is or isn't a hibiscus species? Edited September 29, 200816 yr by *libby*
September 29, 200816 yr It isn't, I'll see if I have any info on it's safety Lavatera is part of the family Malvacaea which also includes hibiscus (hence the similiarity). It is common as a garden plant and chances are it is safe but I can't guarantee it. Might be best to try and do a bit more research first and just trial it in one cage before giving it to all of them. Edited September 29, 200816 yr by melbournebudgies
September 29, 200816 yr Ahh so close relative but not a relative, gotcha I'll stick to raiding my parents hibiscus' for now and my neighbors bottle brush LOL!
September 29, 200816 yr Heheh I might not be able to grow them But i know what they are petunia azalea - My favourite Rose, also no idea on the type... arum lilly hibiscus looking but MB is right - Tree Mallow Pansy - Best bit Strawberry Edited September 29, 200816 yr by Neat

September 29, 200816 yr Taken from last season - none have flowered yet. The following are all cactii: http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b234/kar...actusFlower.jpg http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b234/kar...s21-10-2007.jpg http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b234/kar...21-10-20071.jpg
September 29, 200816 yr Author Love the cacti Karen, my hubby is as cacti crazy as i am budgie crazy - I will be showing him those pictures soon
September 29, 200816 yr I reckon cacti has some of the most magnificent blooms around. The first cactus is a gift from the neighbours - theirs grew to over 40 foot tall and they had to lop it down, it flowered bloomin great! Pity they had to chop it down - it was over their sullage pit so they had to clear it. Don't know what any are called though.
