Posted September 22, 200816 yr Well it has been almost a couple weeks since we had our strike on food and almost died. That whole thing threw him into a molt and he lost some weight so here he is recovering. I know he is still on the thin side but he is eating well again, I am still watching the food bowl and the husks are increasing along with eating his millet later on the day and his veggies/fruits too. Can you say PIN feathers...maybe I should use that for the FAQ's to explain what they are Edited September 22, 200816 yr by Elly
September 22, 200816 yr Oh Merlin ......I think the pin cushions photos are the cutest I am glad he is recovering well
September 22, 200816 yr Good to hear that he is recovering, even though he is moulting he is still a very cute budgie.
September 22, 200816 yr Oh Merlin Darlin... still looking spunky as ever. Love the bottom picture, he will be fat in no time!!
September 22, 200816 yr Author thanks everyone, I wish he would let me rub him head I would love to help with the itches, he clings to the side of the cage and uses the bars and rubs his head
September 22, 200816 yr Aww he looks lovely despite his pins. So glad to see/hear he is well on the road to recovery :hap:
September 22, 200816 yr Despite the pin feathers his cere is the brightest blue, so he must be feeling pretty good right now in your loving care :hap: Tell him he only has to worry about pin feathers like these ones.........
September 23, 200816 yr Author Now that looks very uncomfortable :hap:: he has been a little frisky if you know what I mean , breeding condition for Merlin too I think.
September 23, 200816 yr Merlin is looking great besides having those itchy pin feathers. September 23, 200816 yr One of my sickies has gone into molt and looks a little like Kaz's. I always feel so sorry for them however with Harley I love it when he molts as it is about the only time I am allowed to touch him without him biting me! He loves getting his head scartched! :hap:
September 24, 200816 yr Izzy has gone into a big moult this time round and his head is looking pretty bald/red at the moment and he looks like a moth ate him. Not quite as many pin feathers as that though.
September 24, 200816 yr Author nice close up SW, they will come in soon it is just starting, I have never had Merlin so red yet.
September 26, 200816 yr Oh my KAZ, is that one of your birds?! I have never seen something so painful.
