Posted September 9, 200816 yr Here is a small reminder on one thing we should all know: don't give over-the-counter medicine to your pets because they can be pretty harmful. Lots of companies just mass produce **** and does not care about your pets' health. http://consumerist.com/5046971/hartz-flea-...e-cats-and-dogs http://www.hartzvictims.org/ , the guys they link to... have pretty bad stories. I'm sure their stuff kills fleas pretty well. After all, they poison their host too.
September 9, 200816 yr Michelle, this is so true, we have many members coming on here looking for a quick FIX so they don't have to take the bird to an avian vet, I believe if you don't know what you are doing or know what you are giving a vet is the best bet. Even with the advice given on here we are not "vets" so the best thing you can do is take the bird to the vet.
September 11, 200816 yr I totally Agree !!!! So many people want that QUICK FIX and the put the Cost of thing before the actual health of their pets I've heard breeders give HUMAN medicine to sick birds!!!!! NO THAT WAS HORRIBLE TO HEAR I have noticed over the last 2 weeks that 100% of the Cheap bird toys are ****!!!!! They are made from hard plastics that Bird can't chew Or have Little beads on toys - That if the bird doe manage to chew can get lodge in their crops - Also 85% of toys that have bells have COPPER BELLS .. This goes to show that you pay for what you get - ****!!!
September 11, 200816 yr A lot of toys have cotton rope too, which can build up in their GI tract and clog them up. Which is a shame as some of their favourite toys are cotton rope ones. I just clip the tassles off now. A mention on the copper bells. The penplaxx ones... I don't think they are actually copper as they never turn blue, they stay permanently shiny. My one I've had for 3 years and it is still a coppery/brass colour not blue. I like the little toys that have wood and paper and twizely string stuff ooo oo and the acrylic ones. They look like lollies :hap: Edited September 11, 200816 yr by Sailorwolf
