Yes that's the one, that's what we used. Ummmm - Sand on the bottom of the avairy, Now I want piccy guys's I am doing avairy reno's and that Idea seems very clean Do you use a poop scoop ( kitten litter one) to get the poo of the sand??? Not a kitty litter scoop, just sweep the bottom of the avairy once a week and remove all the droppings etc and top up the sand when needed. It's great, we laid it on top of pavers. This is an old photo of when we were setting up our first avairy. Edited August 5, 200816 yr by Denise
August 5, 200816 yr Here you go neat! Every budgie breeder LOVES to show the floor of their aviary - NOT Here is my sand floor, there are pavers underneath the sand and i do a weekly clean (on tursdays) and a full sweep out and replace of sand every 4 weeks or so I love all the little Itty Bitty foot prints they leave in the sand
August 5, 200816 yr I put sand on the bottom of Smokeys cage. You can get packets of it, specially for cages from big W. I just put it through some old shadecloth to clear out the leaves and poo etc each week... its great! Edited September 8, 200816 yr by KAZ typos

Is there concrete underneath the sand? I've been contemplating how I will do my avairy floor when my house is finished. I had thought I'd do it the same was as my dad did it years ago and just pour a concrete slab, put sand down and put quail in there, but I'm no builder like my dad.
