Posted May 28, 200817 yr For those of you who remember when my grandpa was sick with cancer earlier this year, well his wife, and my Granny now has it. She has been diagnosed with Pancreas Cancer. It is too developed and in-operable. She lives 4 hours from Melbourne and her local hospital wont touch her. She is being transfered to Melb so they can drain the bile to make her more comfortable and in less danger. Then, it will be pallitive care until the end. I don't know any more details, or how long she will have. It's all a little to much to deal with and understand at the moment. All I ask is for your prayers for my beautiful Grandma, Grandpa and family. If I'm not around much, or seem a little vague, that will be why and I appoligise now. Thanks all, Maesie xoxo
May 28, 200817 yr That is an awful thing for all of you to have to go through. Atleast she will be close to you guys. Best wishes for all of your family through this difficult time .
May 28, 200817 yr Hi Maesie Regardless of everything else in this world life sux doesn't it and I know I often wonder why things happen to us. Only yesterday my daughter-in-law lost what was to be my second grandchild and their second child. She was 12 weeks pregnant and I will always ask myself, "Why do these things happen?" But I don't have an answer. Words really mean not a lot at a time like this and only you can fully understand the impact this will have on you. If there is one little bit of advice that I can give you, it is to make sure that through all of this that you make sure you look after yourself. Don't let yourself get run down physically and look for those things that will keep your mind stimulated. I am sure that your budgies will be a great help to you I know mine are. Take care won't you. May 28, 200817 yr Maesie Biggest hugs. Bad things really seem to come in runs sometimes, like we are being put to the test or something. I know what its like to see someone we love go through so much until their end. I lost my mother after a succession of early strokes that took her away bit by bit until she was like a mentally handicapped child. We prayed for the final stroke that took her away, and then felt guilty for having wished for that quicker end for her. You have so much to go through. Take all the love and support that is offered you and dont feel guilty or too proud to accept help, hugs and support. Love Kaz
May 28, 200817 yr Oh Maesie, Biggest hugs from me too. . It was really hard to watch my Granny go in a similar way. My grandpa, on the other hand, passed really suddenly (while mowing the lawn) - it was a complete shock to all and i am still really sad about not being able to say good bye. I wish you lots of love, strength and support for such a difficult time. Lots of hugs and sending prayers your way Luv Liv xoxox Edited May 28, 200817 yr by **Liv**

May 29, 200817 yr Sorry to hear that maesie I hope she recovers enough to have a comfortable rest of her life at home
May 29, 200817 yr I'm sorry to hear that you're Gran is sick also. At least knowing this, you will get to spend some quality time with her which a lot of people don't get. I hope she will be comfortable and not in to much pain.
May 30, 200817 yr Author Well... she is in Melbourne now and will be operated on on Tuesday. They'll take a biopsy and insert a stint to drain the bile out. Hopefully this goes okay and she'll be able to go home. She is doing pretty well considering. I'll be away for a few days. I'm taking my Mum up to be with her Dad (my Granny's husband). We're leaving tomorrow. I'll drop her off and I'll be back Sunday. Then, my Dad is heading up next weekend to be with them all, and then hopefully bring Mum home. So, fingers crossed. Thanks again everyone for your thoughts...
May 30, 200817 yr Hope everything goes to plan maesie!!! Thinking of you, your family and your gran!!! xxx
May 30, 200817 yr i hope everything goes well with your Granny's operation and that you have a safe trip.My prayers and thoughts are with you.
June 1, 200817 yr Author I'm home safetly, all be it tired (two four hour trips in two days does that to you). I can't remember what my last update was and I can't be bothered reading back. My Granny can't have the stint put in until Tuesday. She is on warfrin for her heart, which thins her blood. Her blood is too thin for the operation, so I guess they are just preparing her. I think she's doing okay, but we don't have much more news than that. My Dad, two sisters and brother in law have gone up to melbourne to see her today, so that should be good for her. My Grandpa is doing okay. He is really thin (from his own bout with cancer). He is quite emotional, which is to be expected. It was very hard to see him like that. Mum is up there now until next weekend when my Dad will head up for the long weekend and hopefully if all is well, they'll then come home. Um... so probably no more news untill tuesday, but I'll keep you all updated. Thanks for your wishes and prayers. They mean so much to me and my family. Maesie xoxo
