Posted March 30, 200817 yr I found a dilute cobalt budgie on the ground last summer, I brought him home with me. his names Ricky, and he live in a box. no. not just a regular box, its a giant box, with one side cut out, and some sticks, mirrors, dishes, and bird things attatched in it so yes, he does just walk around my room as he pleases, and no, he doesnt make a big mess i also have 2 snakes, a fish, and some feeder mice in my room with me, its a zoo. but Ricky loves to sit on the fishtank, drink the water from it, and play hide and seek with the fish i cant really describe it, but its adorable he also sits on top of the feeder mice cage and tells them all the daily news http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n99/Riot--/DSC03275.jpg ps, the bird on the left is his new friend ugly trisha i got her at the petstore, she looked fine there, but when i got her home she looked like a ratty mess next to my bird, haha after her feathers grow in again she'll be fine Edited March 30, 200817 yr by Elly pic oversized, max size 450x450 thank you for understanding, if you resize you can post image again

March 30, 200817 yr Nice birds... You have a sky blue greywing and a cobalt/violet normal Am i correct in understanding that they don't live in a cage, but instead in a box? even with a snake in the room ?
March 30, 200817 yr I'm curious too. You have an uncovered fish tank? Did you quarantine Trisha before you put them together?
March 30, 200817 yr Hi MissyJax, Welcome to the BBC forum! Both of the budgies, including the 'ratty one' are gorgeous. Overcrowding could well be the reason she looks like that. Don't some pet stores make you a bit angry about the way they treat their animals? It certainly sounds like you do have a zoo in your room. I'd be worried that she will end up the snakes dinner.. I also must admit to grimacing a little when I heard that your bird drinks water from the fish tank. Over time this could make the birds ill. Ricky is gorgeous and obviously was tamed when you found him. (Either that or he was ill?) I love dilutes, they are so pretty and it looks like he likes Trisha too! Feathers.
March 30, 200817 yr Just a alittle word of caution...a lady who bought a budgie from me stated that her first budgie died by drowning in her fish tank which had no lid. It has a lid now and that was the only reason I allowed my budgie to go live with her. While a free roaming mini zoo sounds "cute" I would suggest it is VERY NAIVE to think it will continue without some form of accident or drama and further suggest some caging and safeguards in place, for each pet types safety and ongoing good health.
March 30, 200817 yr Wow... they really DO live in a box! Maybe you could invest into a big cage soon enough? It will make the lighting better, and it will be cleanable (cardboard + poop + water = not good.). After a while, this thing will probably not be very very hygienic. and plllleease make sure the snakes never get to them!! PS: Trisha is gorgeous!!!
March 30, 200817 yr yes i agree with urgings to not let your budgie drink from the fish tank. i have the same problem with my budgie when i let her out, but i chase her off immediately. however, im worried her first words are going to be "GET OFF THE FISH!" hehe
