I Can't Draw Or Paint,

I am loving seeing everyone's artist talents. Unlike some members on here, I can't draw very well and painting pictures isn't really my thing, but I do like to make Teddy Bear and soft toys (esp. for my niece and nephew). I also enjoy building things, like my aviary, furnature and alike. For my nephews christening, I built him a toy box. (don't have any photos but you can take my word for it, it was fab). So, when my niece (who is also my God daughter) was christened, I built her a Doll's house. Here are some pics of it:

I hope you like it. My family did, and I'm sure Lucy will and get lots of use out of it when she's a bit bigger (she turns 1 in June)...

WOW!!! That is AWESOME!!!! so much attention to detail :D

Love the frying pan too hahahahahahahaha and its just the right sized stove to cook it on hahahaha!! Oh don't get me started hahahah :budgiedance:

Holy moly! That is absolutely FANTASTIC maesie! :D I am awestruck.

I'm so hopeless when it comes to building things. My dad is an amazing constructor, he built the pergola, several extended rooms to our house and the chicken coop. My brother is forever making picture frames, tables, gorgeous storage boxes and the like. Me, I can glue two bits of wood together, that's about it :P

Incredible work. I'm with everyone else in saying that the talent on this board is phenomenal!

Hey Maesie,

job well done! It looks fantastic.

Feathers.

Well done, that's pretty impressive. I would have loved that when I was a little girl.

FABULOUS job Maesie!!And what fun it would have been to furnish it once it was built!! Its so realistic with the way you've set up the rooms (and garage). I can imagine ME sitting down playing with .. even now!! (and I'm a grandma!!)

Well done!!!! :(:D

I AM GOB SMACKED ! That is amazing Maesie ... & I just thought you were another inside outty pretty face. I loved the details. The stand up lamp in the lounge. The baby highchair in the dining room the mop & bucket in the garage. Pictures or paintings on the walls & even a vase with a flower in it on the dining room cabinet. And a bathtub & separate shower. You made this doll house a Better Homes & Gardens Luxury Edition 2008

What was missing was the budgie in a cage. But I suppose I can forgive that little slip. It's too beautiful. DON'T GIVE IT TO THE BABY TILL SHE'S 21 & WILL CHERISH IT !

that is really great work, Maesie. i have been planning on getting a doll house for my daughter who is also a Lucy and i have been looking on ebay but i think i should get you to make one for me[ shame you live to far away] :(

That is so cool, my grandpop made my one when l was a little girl, l loved it to pieces!

Holy MOley that is absolutley incredible. What a great house and acc.You are so talented.

Wow Maesie, you are incredibly talented!! I have always wanted to build things with timber and have never done it, will have to put in on my "to do" list!! Hope you are very proud of yourself!! Well done!!

I had to come back and look at your work, I just love the tiny tiny toilet :D so cute.

*stamps foot* I want one! (for my girls of course :D ).

Great job, that is the best dolls house I've seen in ages! You are certainly talented. :D

That is sooooo cool. I love it. Very nicely finished.

You know, with the amount of talent on these boards we should make a topic just for that and see what everyone's talents or hobbies are. :D

:) Very nice Maesie!!! I cannot draw or paint but I used to be an excellent seamstress and knitter. Unfortunately my arms no longer work well for me (go to a massage therapist on a regular basis plus my eyes aren't as good not to mention time constraints). I can COOK and BAKE but hard to show this here!!! :D

WOW!! Maesie this dolls house is just so gorgeous :) I have 5 boys and miss out on all this girlie stuff, maybe I could steal me a girl just to get one of these :D (only joking)

Thanks everyone for your comments. I'll try and answer some of the questions if I can...

I unfortunately did not make the little furniture. I bought it off a website in Melb. Very well priced and great value. I sanded them and varnished them though. I would have made them if I had the tools, but our shed is only small and only has limited equiptment.

It took me 5 mths to make (inbetween working and my birds). I built it all out of pine (which put the cost up massivly), but I wanted to stain it. It could be made out of cheaper wood and painted. I loved furnishing it... definately my favorite part...

I think it cost me over $200 all up. I just couldn't help myself... had to add tiles to the bathroom floor, carpet, lino, curtains, pictures, tool bench in garage, kitchen benches to go with the kitchen appliances, dog, dog bowl and basket, towles on a towel rack in the bathroom, etc... I could go on!

I also went looking for Doll's houses to get idea's but couldn't find anything half decent. I also thought of turning a bookshelf into in, but couldn't find the exact size I needed... so I started from scratch. I'm really looking forward to when she plays with it as I can't wait to join in!!!

We took it around and set it up as planned (everything has it's place and MUST go there... the family has 'their' own beds(shoes and all (Laughing out loud))... things need to go in there spot!!!)... well as soon as Lucy's big brother saw it, he stated playing with it and moving furnature and family around. I was like... grrrr, that's not where it goes... (Laughing out loud)...

But, I'm glad you all like it. I love having a project o the go. Lucy is turning 1 in June and for James' first birthday I made him a teddy bear, so I'll be making her one as well... but I'm also keen to get another wood working project up and running. I'm also VERY impressed with everyone's talents here... I bet every one has something they can do... draw, paint, sew, cook, any craft, cars etc... I love our diversity :D YAH for our 'family'... we rock!
