Posted March 16, 200817 yr Hey guys, I bought this perch today, l have seen them before, but decided to spoil my budgies yet again: They haven't started playing with it yet, still a bit cautious.
March 16, 200817 yr Cool. I've seen them before but never bought one. Let us know what they think of it when they start to check it out.
March 16, 200817 yr I've always thought those look fun, but i know my guys would be too scared to use them. :rip:
March 16, 200817 yr put some of their favorite treats around it and they will start going by it more and more they are just being wary good for them they don't know it if is harmful or not
March 16, 200817 yr Author put some of their favorite treats around it and they will start going by it more and more they are just being wary good for them they don't know it if is harmful or not Good idea The bit on the end is like a round hollowed out section, so l'll put some millet in there for them EDIT: Just did, and she managed to be able to hold onto the side of the cage and STRETCH over and reach it clever girl! Then l moved it over and she had no choice but to stand on the perch she almost lost her balance on the hole in the centre (where there are beads on a metal wire) but she's all good Edited March 16, 200817 yr by Missy
March 17, 200817 yr excellent before you know it they will be fighting over it because they associate it with yummy millet
March 17, 200817 yr Hey, thats looks fantastic... give them a day or two and they will be on it all the time. Feathers.
March 18, 200817 yr Looks great Missy! I wonder if they do them in small parrot size, I reckon Saffy and Morris would have a ball with that.

March 19, 200817 yr Maybe a bit bigger than that. Knowing the way Saffy and Morris are, they will both want to be attacking it at the same time. It seems when one finds a toy interesting, the other has to get involved. They are seriously like naughty spoiled children :(Laughing out loud):
June 10, 200817 yr that looks great, does anyone have any suggestions of other toys that budgies absolutly love . Mine is kinda getting sick of his and is looking in his mirror A LOT. i think he finds himself attractive. If you have any images or links that would be great. by the way: ive only been in this forum for a little time, i have learnt HEAPS...thanks all and keep the good work up.
June 10, 200817 yr I'm glad you're liking it. First thing first... get rid of the mirror. They are bad news. Budgies and other birds get attached to them and can become aggressive etc... when you go near it. Also when trying to tame and teach them to talk, mirrors are also bad... Budgies love those balls with little bells in them, paper (small patty cake pans)... um... I'll find you some pictures and links

They do LOVE mirrors, as they think they have a mate in them (their reflection). Be prepared for an unhappy/cross budgie if he is used to having his mirror. He will get used to it after awhile. Another member had a post about it, and her budgie was scretching when they took it out, but they did get over it. Budgies love colourful toys. Thoses simple o rings, chew toys (with wooden bits), don't get a fake bird toy (similar problems as with mirror), um.... look for stong well built toys... and keep your receipt and packaging and post them here if you're not sure. That way they can be returned if need be P.S. This is my favorite online shop for parrot toys. My Parrot shop Have a look around. At the least it will give you an idea of what they like and is safe as this place tests all of their toys on birds Edited June 10, 200817 yr by maesie
June 10, 200817 yr Looks fun, But still becareful when they start to chew on it .. I stay clear from plastic and metal perches... But that is me Edited June 11, 200817 yr by KAZ
June 11, 200817 yr My guys love the little wooden ball with bristle/string/plantfibres coming out the bottom. They preen it and eat it and there is a little bell on top that rings when they use it: here's a picture of it actually: I also saw this awesome as chew toy that had plant fibres, its of wood and pieces of paper (rolled up to look like little lollies) that looked like it would be awesome fun and it was cheap too $5. I didn't buy it. I'm feeling poor

By The Way i thought they where colour blind.
June 11, 200817 yr nope, dogs are colour blind lol Budgie see in colour they also have approx 95% Panaramic vision too .. we have and eye absorbtion image rate of 16 and they have 150... So they have extremlt good site -------------------------------------------------------------- Woooooh, I can't even believe I remembered that
June 11, 200817 yr Budgiues actually have tetrachromatic colouring ie they see more colours than we do. They can see ultraviolet light too! Apparently birds are attracted by the colour red, it is their favourite colour. That is why all flowers that get pollinated by birds are red or have red on them.
