:(Laughing out loud): Love the video!! Have enough other pets running around on wheels here to put another in a budgie cage, besides my cages are too small excepting one. And as far as the noise goes, I have 7 budgies in my living room not to mention everybody else.......................... :hap: Good thing I have to get up early in the morning.

It was two days old before I noticed it on the nestbox. Related to MOJO as they have the same father. :hap:

This pair have three chicks, all doing well. Dad is a very "hands on" Father and feeds them well.

Here is Mojo's half brother ? DSCF0525.jpg

This little chick DSCF0509.jpg

has been plucked by its mother...feathers gone from the back of its head, wings and back. I have put it and another sibling another nest. Put the youngest sibling in yet another nest, and the eldest...the violet dom pied is in a container on the floor of the breeding cage for the dad to feed. Mum has been removed.

AFTER DSCF0531.jpg

Here's another chick from another nest.....Mum wanted to start round 3 and stripped this little hen chicks feathers from chest to butt underneath, not on top

DSCF0440.jpg

I removed the chick...had to crop feed it over 4 days as it went into a decline. I put it in the kindie cage just 2 days ago where a disabled old hen was and the hen has taken the chick on as her own and is feeding it. All well and feathers are growing back ( Notice the full crop ) ;)

Breeding isnt easy...sometimes its about how quickly you can act and work out whats going on and make things better. It takes time, practice and experience to save chicks. It really helps if you are breeding multiple pairs at once. Swapping chicks and eggs is like playing MUSICAL CHAIRS

Oh, the poor little babies ;)

I hope their feathers are going to regrow soon.

I agree, breeding is all about acting fast and knowing what to do when a problem arises :D

omg that had got to be so painful for those chicks good thing you caught it when you did

UPDATE...the fostered chicks are being fed in the other nests now by the foster parents...all looks okay for now.

This chick DSCF0534.jpg

is now eating for iteself and flying the kindie cage :D

The cute little violet dom pied in the cage with Dad DSCF0507.jpg

wasnt being fed while it was in the bottom of the breeder cage...as soon as I put it back in the nestbox, the dad went in and fed it. It takes all kinds :D

PS two old favourites CURRY and LAILA have five chicks...one a lutino, one a TCB, one a normal green, one maybe a yellow recessive pied and the other yet to be determined.

Far to early but oh so cute!!!!! It sounds like you've been busy Kaz. I was hoping to get back into breeding on my return from Bali but all my birds are moulting so it's def not the time for them... waiting, waiting, waiting...

So cute :) I have a 20 day old chick that I'm finding hard to keep in the nest, a real wanderer. :)

:) Things are looking up!
