Posted February 24, 200817 yr Yes, thats right, l have a budgie veggie mix Today l went back to Kellyville Pet store and l bought a smallish stainless steel bowl, which can be attached to the side of the cage. I bought some snow peas on the way home. My mix includes snow peas that are torn into small pieces, grated carrot (even though they didn't eat any yesterday at all, l decided to try it in the mix), corn kernals, pieces of apple and cut up brocolli trees (the small ones). I also had a huge bell seed that l took off them a while ago because they were only eating that and none of their normal seed, so l broke that up a little and sprinkled it over the mix. They are eating it Fighting over it a little actually, but Fizzy is slowly realising that Sherbet was there first so she gets first dibs. I was really excited and proud of myself with my little mix that l made I hope they enjoy it - although they are throwing bits and pieces out sometimes
February 24, 200817 yr :feedbirds: Excellent, half of my crew like a similar mix and the rest just pick at it.
February 24, 200817 yr Author Would l be able to make this in bulk and refrigerate? It would just be a pain if l have to take another 10-15 mins of my morning before work to make this mix, l already spend about 10-15 mins on them already Changing their water every morning and topping up their seed containers.
February 24, 200817 yr Author It's only good for 3 days at the most, I do it the night before. Thats a great idea Thanks Pheobe! They have put a lot on the floor of the cage, and Sherbet is hoarding it Fizzy is trying to get to the mix at any chance he can. Poor little munchkin Is it okay to put some seed in it? I just thought they might like it more with some of the sweet honey stick seed.
February 24, 200817 yr :ygbudgie: No, keep their vegetable/and fruit mixture separate unless you are trying to entice them and sprinkle a few seeds on. But your guys already like it so you have no problem!
February 24, 200817 yr Author I only did it today because l've previously given them whole pieces of veggies and fruit. I wasn't sure how they would take the mix of grated/cut up pieces all together. Pretty much to get them attracted to it, but thanks, l won't put them in there anymore
