Today we went to the markets to get a budgie for my 5 year old cousin. She called him Roxii.

Here's a picture of him:

So what do you think... Boy or Girl? ;)

It looks like a girl to me. I can't tell the mutation, but the color is beautiful !!!

I agree a girl

as with the mutation I would need a bit of help

Looks like an opaline mauve with the violet gene? A clearwing too since there are no grey or black marking on the wings.

pretty budgie... but I'm at a loss on the mutations, will be interested to find out what she is. color looks mauve or grey (picture is very fuzzy to me) but I think the cheek patches look blue possibly so I'd go with mauve clearwing something or other... but that's just a guess.. very pretty.

Are you sure it's a girl?... his/her nose is becoming a dark blue and when I hold him/her, she/he dosent bite as hard as my females do. My cousin wants me to keep him/her in my aviary and look after him/her, so she can visit him/her sometimes. She's/he's kind of a violet/grey colour.

It looks a girl from that picture, maybe try to take a closer and clearer picture of the cere.

Here's some better pictures, it was so hard to get them close up without making them completely fuzzy:

Yes, a girl - she has white/blue cere. If it was a boy the cere would be pink/blue

Yes definitely a female mauve opaline fullbody colour greywing

I think Sailorwolf is right here on mutation and it's definitely a girl budgie.

Wow, you figured out the gender, another girl... ah!! :) . Thanks guys :) .

Yesterday I noticed that one of her eye's was a bit red (like feathers missing from it)... she's not scratching it or anything, do you think it will heal, I don't know how it got there. :)

Is she is with any other birds ? Have you quarantined her ?

Eye issues amongst other things can be a symptom of Psittacosis...very serious. Have closer look at her. Keep her separate from the others.

Yes I too agree with Sailorwolf that it is a hen & she is right on the colour also.
