Bumblefoot

Featured Replies

I GOOGLED images...C52581.jpgBumblefoot usually results from a combination of factors, including inappropriate or dirty perching surfaces, conditions which force one foot to bear more weight than another, or immune suppression. Microscopic lesions develop on the plantar surfaces of the feet, allowing penetration of bacteria, most often Staphylococcus aureus. The resulting infection can range from a superficial dermatitis to a severe, deep lesion resulting in osteomyelitis. Treatment consists of correcting predisposing factors, appropriate antibiotic therapy based on culture and sensitivity, possible surgical intervention in severe cases, and therapeutic topical medications and bandages.

Ohh my... those pics are sad :bluebudgie:
