Wow, I have no idea where she got that sound, but since a few days she's making that REALLY annoying sound. It's a short loud squeak, and it sounds like an hinge that needs serious oiling. She seems to do that a lot when she wants food from Pat.

I think what you are describing is simply a begging sound. The bubs will make it too when they are at the age of coming out of the box. I don't know if the hen does it to show the babies or if that noise simply gets the best reaction from the male.

Well, I made a quick video... well, there's nothing to see cuz it's too dark... And it's really not dark in here for real! It's the camera. But you can hear the sound in there.

 

It's exactly what I say... She needs oiling! But wow, she only started doing that a couple days ago, she took so long to beg? Guess she has a lot of pride.

ive never heard a budgie make that sound before. Maybe she picked it up somewhere. Is there a machine in your house that makes noises like that??

It is higher pitched than what I remember of the noise Tootie made.

I believe she just wants me to go insane.

 

AND SHE KNOWS IT WORKS! She's evil like that. <_<

It is kind of high pitched, just don't pay attention when she does it and close the door if sleeping is an issue.

All my female budgies make that sound when they're getting fed, (Laughing out loud). I don't know why... maybe to let the male know they're not full yet???

LOLLLLLLLL...... Star has been making the same sound. Like a squeeeeeeeeaky tricycle tire rolling down the sidewalk. Peddle, squeak, peddle squeak....................I know the sound EXACTLY!!

Scooter LOVES to make that sound. He does it whenever he's ringing his bell. It's like he's trying to mimic the ringing of the bell. He'll hit it over and over and make that noise with every ding of the bell. :(Laughing out loud):

My female budgies do it too. They only started after they started breeding now. And they make it whenever they feel a bit amorous.

Ack, and you tell me all the babies will make the same soun? I won't have enough oil!

l guess l'm so far lucky that my females don't make that sound but l find my females like to do those annoying dolphin noise ...... ack ack ack
