Posted February 13, 200718 yr One of my fledglings is doing something odd. Everytime I fill the tray up with seed he sits in it and kicks down with his feet kicking all the seed out and when it all out he just gets out all happy like mission accomplished. Anyone elses birds do this?
February 13, 200718 yr Yes Poppy and Tweety use to do this when they were out with the other budgies.Made a big mess where ever they were. Here is tweety in the bowl after kicking seed out. Here's a picture of Poppy eating the mess tweety made. So it must be normal unless we both have weird budgies!
February 13, 200718 yr Yes. Itha does it. She is so naughty. I had to move the bowl into a lower position so her kicked seed wouldn't go every where. I'd be sitting down in the middle of working on my computer and get covered in seed.
February 13, 200718 yr Baby used to completely take her food dish off the bars and throw it on the floor of her cage. I have no clue how many years she's done this since she was doing it before I knew her. She then loved to forage in the seeds on the floor, even amongst the poop! We figured she preferred foraging for her seeds, so when we moved her into her current cage, which has a barred bottom that she couldn't foraage from, we created a foraging area for her on top of her cage on her playground. She doesn't even try to spill the seed container anymore.
February 14, 200718 yr I have to secure Coco's food dishes to the cage bars with clips and she has a different water dish than everybody else as she used to rip that apart as well. Edited February 14, 200718 yr by Phoebe
February 14, 200718 yr Yes I have had a few babies kick about the seed while learning what it is all for. The funniest times are when they kicked it about chasing mum or dad around begging for food. Freckle use to knock her seed dish off the bars as well, normally if I moved it she would leave it be for a month or so.
