Make Birdie Bread!

okay, I was cleaning my outlook and save information from here and members that posted great stuff. I found this, I don't know who posted it so I can't give myself credit and I wanted to put it back out there :P.

Make birdie bread!

Here's a recipe that I found:

2 6 oz jars baby food sweet potatoes

2 jars baby food tropical fruit

1-1 1/2 cups pellets or 4 tbss hand feeding formula

3 eggs and eggshells (crushed)

I recycle pellets left in our birds' bowls (We use uncolored pellets). Mix eggs and baby food. Use a little in a small blender/processor to crush the egg shells (calcium source). Mix in remaining ingredients. Put in paper cupcakes or muffin tins- 4 tsps each. Microwave 1-2 mins until firm. Or bake in toaster oven at 400 degrees for 15 minutes till firm. Makes 12 servings. Serve warm, but not too hot.[/i]

:P Have you tried it Lovey? I mean not you personally but Pretty or Merlin? :(Laughing out loud): I get the heebie jeebies with eggshells in eggs, the only eggs I will eat are ones I cook myself as I get paranoid about eggshells in eggs. Weird, I know. :P

No I haven't had the patience to cook it up - I can barely cook for the kids and hubby (shhhhhh).

Well the eggs you use would be the ones you cook? and the shells too yes?

:P Yes, I inspect the eggs I make thoroughly for egg shells and order egg beaters when I am out! :P: And I am a gourmet cook! :P

I make bridie bread, cookies, muffins all the time mainly for my CAG but I give the budgies a bit of whatever I am making sometimes they eat it and sometimes they dont.

This sounds really good! A really healthy treat or an easy way to get them to eat a well rounded diet.

Do you think the little muffins could be frozen so they don't go bad before the little guys can eat them all? Of course they'd be thawed before feeding....

I don't see why not great idea.

Baby loves birdie bread!

But she prefers it dried out. I'm keeping it in the fridge in a ziploc bag. I'm wondering if letting the bread sit out till it dries is okay, or if it'll start to go bad in that amount of time. Can you think of better, more reliable way of drying it? Perhaps microwaving it a bunch?
