May 11, 200619 yr Great pics! ! ! How old is that male? His cere is more blue than my 13 month olds, but he still has baby stripes? (Laughing out loud) They sure are nice though! Kirby
May 11, 200619 yr Lovely budgies! Are they a breeding pair - I see a nestbox in your cage. The male does look young. He's gorgeous!
May 11, 200619 yr I agree that the male does look rather too young to be having a nestbox in the cage. I can see the baby bars too.
May 11, 200619 yr noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo . . . . . . How old is he, or how old was he when you bought/got him? The males need to be at least 10 months.... The hen looks ready, male sure as heck isn't! (Laughing out loud) Just becuase his cere is bright blue, doesnt mean hes ready to take on the comiitment of babies as of yet. Id say hes about 9-11 weeks old. So if i were you, id wait another 30 weeks, if not more Kirby
May 11, 200619 yr Author he was 5months when i bought him now he is 8 so but the female i had since that age now she is a year and 5 months
May 12, 200619 yr Sometimes the bars are kept after baby hood. The cere doesn't go blue before 3 - 6 months of age. So baby bars aren't a reliable way of telling a budgie's age. An 8 month old male, might just be okay for breeding.
