Possible Outcomes If I Breed Newton And Napoleon?
oi! grey greens too! hehe hopefully i'll have a mighty colorful bunch when babies come along. that would make me happy! hehe or what would be funny is they come out completely different than expected due to hidden genes. not sure of the likeliness of that... but it makes me laugh just thinking about it

What Makes It Different?
oh! i definitely agree. Cameras really mess around with colors. Especially when you use the flash. I've noticed that. With all my pictures... of course when I take a picture it doesn't really phase me because my brain kind of sees it all the same since i know my budgies. But to others even the slightest difference is noticeable. Very very true. I'm glad you brought this up in a post. Especially with the two different photos :grbud:

Egg Granules (tropican)
Yeah, but then I'd have to pay shipping and also there's the small problem... i don't have a credit card I'd have to bug my dad, and I doubt he'd agree to it. hehe. thanks for the suggestion though!

Newton And Napoleon
yep, a hamster. she's a feisty one. Her name is Juliet. I've been looking around ebay to find an addition for the aquarium. I hate tubular stuff because the actual cages are always so tiny. but yep, you were right! good eye you have !

Possible Outcomes If I Breed Newton And Napoleon?
I think I'm getting more and more confused Lovey. Since her flights are so light, I still think that Newton is a dilute. It looks like the greywings have darker ones. Is Napoleon a clearwing.. is he a greywing? It doesn't make a whole lot of difference because either one is dominant to dilute -- so if he's a greywing the babies will all be greywings.. and if he's a clearwing, the babies will all be clearwings. To add a bit of extra confusion -- greywing (and clearwing) can both be split for dilute and if Napoleon is than you can get 50% greywing (or clearwing) and 50% dilute by breeding him with a dilute. hehe i love how so much confusing is to be had!

Possible Outcomes If I Breed Newton And Napoleon?
Yellow Face Type II sounds about right, he seems to have bits of yellow diffused about his body. That seems consisten with the yellow face type II description. as for clearwing... no idea if that's right or not. and I'm totally confused by the detailed page on breeding dilutes and clearwings... yeah hehe.

Possible Outcomes If I Breed Newton And Napoleon?
Well I was told that Newton was a Yellow dilute and Napoleon was a Yellow Face Skyblue clearwing I recently noticed that Newton has white/offwhite flight feathers and wondered if that meant something. And no I don't mind at all! hehe I'm sure someone will come along and help us both out. I'm really just going on what other people have told me. mainly because it sounded right to me... so yep.

Possible Outcomes If I Breed Newton And Napoleon?
So I've read on genetics but I'm still getting used to identifying colors and sometimes I get really mixed up. Now I don't plan on breeding these two lovelies until summer time, when Napoleon will be old enough and when I will have unlimited time to be there if anything goes wrong. Pictures of course... Newton (female) Napoleon (male) Enrich me with all your vast knowledge! At school we're getting into genetics and stuff and I'm really excited about that. Hopefully it'll help me better understand budgie genetics. And most of the time it's not that I don't get it or don't understand, it's purely due to the fact that I don't have enough practice Anyways, I'm sure some of you love to figure all the genetics stuff out, I know I would love it, but I need to study it all a bit more. In fact I keep gathering pictures and notes about it all and I keep reading it all... I'm a big nerd! thanks for the help! i added two clearer pictures of newton. i'll try and take some other pictures of napoleon but he isn't tame so it's more difficult to get him to do what i want hehe

B"reading" Material
My library really isn't very jam packed with books about birds. There are a few but mainly very general stuff or very short picture filled books. I am currently getting a book that I saw online, but I'm always on the lookout for more hehe. i love books!

B"reading" Material
I'm probably the only one laughing at my Post's topic... hehe. So! This summer once my male budgie has reached the proper age for breeding I'd love to breed Newton (female) and Napoleon (male). Now of course I'm never going to start until I have so much information in my head that I dream about it all. This forum has always been useful to me and I see that there's tons of breeding info but... it seems to be a place that I'd come for random questions as it's hard to find a structured base of info on which to start. I was wondering if anyone knew about a good structured book (maybe with charts and such) about breeding budgies. Or even a website. I've already got the Master Breeder PDF document and I've recently bought a book called "Breeding Birds" - David Alderton (though not species specific it's very very interesting and useful) But I'm looking for more. I'm always looking for more hehe. I'm a very organized person and it's hard for me to get around things unless they're really structured and I know when I begin the whole breeding process and such I'll be very meticulate about writing things down, preparing everything in an orderly fashion. I'm a nut. At least, I make it sound like I'm a nut. Anyways! If anyone knows any good sites or books about breeding budgies. Please do post!

eeek! I'm so excited for you! I can't wait to do the same thing. I'm not quite sure how the school system works in NZ though, I live in Canada and it's really really really hard to get into Vet Med.... But I'm working hard in CGEP and trying to get the best marks possible! Goodluck!

Egg Granules (tropican)
I finally got my budgies to chomp on some egg granules that I got at the pet store. I was wondering if they are any good. They're from the bran tropican. I was wondering what the best pellets to feet are. thanks.
