  7. Hi Go to the Forum on Diet & Nutrition. Grass Seed is for sale at any garden centre. Plant a sprinkle of seed in a pot & wait for it to grow. Or you could pull up a lump of grass that no dogs have been on, & feed them that as well as Fruit & veg....B.J.

Hi There is no cut off date for a females fertility. A good hen is used as long as her fertility lasts... Please go to forums & click on to, Diet & nutrition. Your diet not adequate.. You can buy small drinking water dispensers from any Pet shop... You cage is just about big enough for 4 pairs. Remove all the other birds. Have you somewhere to put any babies??? Budgie nest boxes are single entry & should be placed at 35cm apart.. Cuttle is provided for its calcium content, the birds will use it when its required.....B.J.

  21. Hi There's a lot of rubbish out there. Colony breeding is the natural way of breeding flock birds it is very successful & less expensive for the beginner if they follow the simple rules... (1) Your aviary could hold up to 3 breeding pairs. (2) Extra nest boxes to give hens choice. (3) Read breeding & feeding & general care off Budgies on the forums on here, (4) budgies will breed as a single pair.......B.J

  24. Hi Your cage is the wrong shape It should be wider than it is high. Remove the trouble maker before you have a death on your hands. It wont hurt her if she is close by. Unless it's absolutely black, covering won't make them sleep. You should start a Taming program asap...B.J.
  25. Hi. Many well meaning bird keepers feed a good healthy food mix on a daily basis. For instance bowl of mixed fruit & veg, seed, nuts etc. This may be necessary in a commercial or zoo situation due to manpower or time restrictions. This situation unfortunately turns food into a toy. With birds like little children picking out the bits they like best & throwing out rest Thus they are not necessarily getting the greatest value from the food supplied. At the moment there are experiments being undertaken which have shown that the enzimes in some types of fruit & veg prevent the uptake of nutrients from others when ingested on or about the same time. Itis suggested that only one type of fruit or veg should be fed in any 4 hour period. This is more in keeping with the birds natural intake of vit & min. In the wild no bird recieves its full compliment of vit & min on a daily basis.,,,,,,B.J.
